About The Position

The Production / Packaging Operator is responsible for performing two primary functions: the bagging operation and the baler operation. The operator must be able to perform both functions as directed by Shift Leads. This role involves operating machinery productively and safely, assisting in other production areas as needed, moving and wrapping completed products, and communicating any material issues to the Shift Lead. The position requires maintaining a clean workstation and performing other assigned duties. Specific tasks for the bagging operation include operating bagging, baler, shrink wrapping machines, forklifts, pallet jacks, and bag sealers, as well as stacking bags on pallets, covering pallets, and placing finished goods in warehouse locations. Accurate completion of production reports, filling sample cups for quality control, and tagging pallets are also required. For the baler operation, responsibilities include stacking bales on pallets, sealing bales, and wrapping pallets. This also requires accurate completion of production reports, checking bale weights, and recording information on reports and quality control tags.

Requirements

  • Good eye, hand, and foot coordination.
  • Ability to pass company forklift training.
  • Ability to read and interpret scales.
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills to adjust weight and timing of baler and perform simple maintenance.
  • Ability to perform simple math calculations.
  • Pre-employment background check and drug screen required.

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Prior forklift and production line experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform bagging and baler operations as determined by Shift Leads.
  • Operate machinery in a productive manner using established safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Assist other production areas as needed.
  • Move and wrap completed products.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs and stand for a minimum of 7 hours per day.
  • Assist Shift Leads to start and stop pellet mills.
  • Communicate any moisture or material problems to Shift Lead.
  • Maintain a clean workstation.
  • Operate bagging and baler machines, shrink wrapping machines, forklifts, pallet jack, and bag sealer.
  • Stack bags on pallets, put covers on pallets, and place finished goods in the correct warehouse location.
  • Accurately complete the Bagger production report, fill pellet sample cups every ton for quality control, and tag pallets with Quality Control tag.
  • Stack bales on pallets, seal bales with an iron, and wrap pallets.
  • Accurately complete the Baler Operator production report, check bale weight, and record information on various reports and quality control tags.
