About The Position

The Production Worker / Packaging Operator is responsible for performing two primary functions: the bagging operation and the baler operation. The operator must maintain the ability to perform both functions as determined by the Shift Leads. This role involves operating machinery productively while adhering to safety guidelines and procedures. Responsibilities include assisting other production areas, moving and wrapping completed products, and communicating any material issues to the Shift Lead. The position requires maintaining a clean workstation and performing other assigned duties. The role involves significant physical activity, including lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for at least 7 hours per day.

Requirements

  • Good eye, hand, and foot coordination.
  • Ability to pass company forklift training.
  • Ability to read and interpret scales.
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills to adjust weight and timing of baler and perform simple maintenance.
  • Ability to perform simple math calculations.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for a minimum of 7 hours per day.

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Prior forklift experience preferred.
  • Prior production line experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform bagging and baler operations as directed by Shift Leads.
  • Operate machinery safely and productively.
  • Assist in other production areas as needed.
  • Move and wrap completed products.
  • Assist Shift Leads in starting and stopping pellet mills.
  • Communicate moisture or material problems to Shift Lead.
  • Maintain a clean workstation.
  • Operate bagging and baler machines, shrink wrapping machines, forklifts, pallet jacks, and bag sealers.
  • Stack bags on pallets, apply covers, and place finished goods in warehouse locations.
  • Accurately complete the Bagger production report.
  • Fill pellet sample cups every ton for quality control.
  • Tag pallets with Quality Control tag including initials, date, ton number, and shift.
  • Stack bales on pallets, seal bales with an iron, and wrap pallets.
  • Accurately complete the Baler Operator production report.
  • Check bale weight and record information on reports and quality control tags.
