About The Position

Fiber Materials Inc. (FMI) is seeking a Production Operator for its Densification team. FMI has been a leading provider of high-temperature materials and composites for over 50 years, serving the Department of Defense and NASA. The facility in Maine specializes in multidirectional reinforced Carbon/Carbon (C/C) and Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMCs) used in critical applications such as thermal protection systems, re-entry vehicle nose tips, and rocket motor throats and nozzles. These materials are integral to space initiatives like the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle and NASA's Mars 2020 mission heat shield, as well as missile programs, commercial and military jet engine airfoils, and lightweight armor for military ground vehicles. The Production Operator role is for individuals who are safety and goal-oriented team players supporting the manufacturing team. The schedule for this position is Tuesday through Friday, from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Requirements

Previous manufacturing experience
Ability to read, write and understand job specifications and work instructions
Basic math comprehension
Basic mechanical aptitude
Familiarity with hand tools

Responsibilities

Load/unload large items from industrial equipment
Operate and monitor high temperature and high pressure equipment
Inspect products to ensure specifications are met to internal and customer standards
Record data readings and calculations accurately and timely, adhering to ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards
Troubleshoot and perform mechanical maintenance of equipment
Record manufacturing records for processes, parts and materials
Ability to work in a team environment
Opportunity to learn and apply Lean principles as part Continuous Improvement activities
