Covia is looking for a dynamic Production Operator who will have a positive impact on the Operations team at its Roff, OK location. As a Production Operator, you will ensure the safe and productive operation of the mine and plant process equipment including mobile equipment, pumps, cyclones, conveyors, thickeners, truck & rail loadout, etc.

Requirements

Literacy in English, both written and spoken required
High School diploma or equivalent required
This job position includes safety-sensitive job duties

Nice To Haves

Technical training in pumps, computer systems, conveyors, or similar preferred
Previous experience within mining operations (preferably sand) preferred
Demonstrated experience contributing within a team of professionals to deliver against set targets preferred
Demonstrated commitment to safety with previous experience in identifying and managing risks preferred
Ability to operate computer programs preferred

Responsibilities

Comply with applicable MSHA regulations as outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and procedures applying to the worker or person that are part of a safety and health management system for the mine
If the worker has information that other persons need to know to fulfil their obligations or duties under the CFR, or to protect themselves from the risk of injury or illness, to give the information to the other persons
Take any other reasonable and necessary course of action to ensure anyone is not exposed to an unacceptable level of risk
Work or carry out the worker’s activities in a way that does not expose the worker or someone else to an unacceptable level of risk
Ensure, to the extent of the responsibilities and duties allocated to the worker or person, that the work and activities under the worker’s control, supervision, or leadership is conducted in a way that does not expose the worker or person or someone else to an unacceptable level of risk
To the extent of the worker’s or person’s involvement, to participate in and conform to the risk management practices of the operation
Comply with instructions given for safety and health of persons by the mine operator or a supervisor at the operation
Work at the operation only if the worker is in a fit condition to carry out the work without affecting the safety and health of others
Not do anything willfully or recklessly that might adversely affect the safety and health of someone else and the operation
Adhere to site procedures and instructions given by supervisors
Operate equipment in a safe manner which is most efficient and reduces damage, downtime, and quality issues
Complete required paperwork in an orderly, accurate, and professional fashion
Assist with any continuous improvement projects as necessary
Perform all other duties as needed or assigned
Perform pre-shift and routine equipment and area inspections; maintain safe work environments in the Mine, Wet Plant, Dry Plant, & Loadout areas.
Perform systematic startup of area equipment.
Inspect equipment to ensure operating safely within parameters
Ensure sand flows from the mine, through the wet process, dry process, & final product loadout.
Collect and process samples, record results, and change operating parameters as required.
Check and maintain communications with appropriate departments.
Maintain housekeeping in assigned area.
Ensure Process equipment is properly shut down at end of shift if required, area is inspected, and any issues reported to Management
Operate Heavy Equipment such as skid steers, front end loader, etc.
