About The Position

The Production Operator is responsible for mixing, blending, and manufacturing final products in a safe and efficient manner. This role involves operating and managing process equipment, ensuring product specifications are met through process data and testing, and maintaining safe operations by monitoring processes and utilizing safety equipment. The operator will also be responsible for receiving and unloading chemical products, preparing and loading products for delivery, operating forklifts, moving materials, and repackaging products. Additionally, the role includes inventory management, general warehouse maintenance, and assisting with physical inventory counts. The position requires adherence to all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.

Requirements

High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or US military experience.
Candidates with prior experience in working with chemical operations (2+ years) may be considered if education or service requirements are not fully met.
Possess or able to pass exam to obtain Forklift Operators certification and demonstrate ability to operate a forklift safely.
Ability to read, comprehend, and carry out detailed and simple instructions in English and write simple correspondence.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
Ability to learn and operate technology-based devices such as smartphones, tablets, computers, PLCs, operational technology equipment, etc.
Meet or exceed production requirements.
Wear safety equipment as prescribed by company.
Comply with placarding rules when loading or unloading trucks.
Must be available to work any days of the week, any assigned 8-12 hour shift.
Willingness to work overtime or weekends as needed.
Good safety and attendance record.
Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Must pass E-verify check.
Must be capable of attaining a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credential) card for participating MTSA facilities within Brenntag (only applicable to MTSA sites).
Able to perform all functions of loading, unloading, packaging, stacking, palletizing, storage, and movement of material.
Able to utilize tools and equipment as necessary to perform job tasks.
Standing and walking for long periods of time, up to 95% of day.
Must be able to operate standing & sit-down forklifts, pallet jacks and drum pickers.
Must be able to climb stairs and ladders to the top of tanks, tankers and rail cars.
Frequently exposed to outside weather (from 10% to 75% of the time) sometimes in extreme weather conditions.
Able to pass company physical and all training requirements, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment, which may include a respirator.

Responsibilities

Operate and manage process equipment to produce blended, diluted, and manufactured final products safely and efficiently.
Ensure final product meets specifications through process data and testing.
Monitor processes and utilize safety equipment (scrubbers, ventilation, bonding/grounding) for safe and efficient operations.
Receive/unload and prepare/load liquid and dry chemical products from/to trucks, tankers, and railcars.
Maneuver and connect/disconnect transfer hoses.
Climb tanks, tankers, and railcars to open/close hatches and monitor loads.
Inspect tanks, tankers, and railcars before and after loading/unloading.
Verify product against receiving/shipping documents, reporting discrepancies and damages.
Perform product sampling and quality control in conjunction with lab personnel.
Maintain accurate receiving/shipping logs and record product amounts via computer program.
Pick and stage product for delivery according to customer order specifications.
Operate powered and manual industrial lift trucks (with certification) to transport product and maintain daily checklists.
Move raw materials to production and finished products to the warehouse.
Lift and carry bags, pails, boxes, and pallets of varying weights and distances.
Stage and remove product packaging in complex storage racking.
Repackage product into proper containers for storage or shipment, ensuring proper labeling, storing, stacking, or palletizing according to requirements.
Give special attention to packaging, loading, and storing of food grade and USP items.
Operate electronic scales and process devices.
Store hazardous waste drums in compliance with regulations.
Examine stored product and report deterioration and damage.
Rearrange stored materials.
Assist in counting physical inventory.
Ensure the warehouse is clean, accessible, and safe.
Report and clean up spills immediately.
Protect property from theft or damage.
Participate in ongoing safety programs, meetings, and trainings.
Wear prescribed safety equipment, including potentially a respirator.
Comply with placarding rules when loading or unloading trucks.
Work cooperatively with other departments and personnel.
Observe, follow, and enforce all company policies and procedures.
