About The Position

Charter Manufacturing, a fourth-generation family-owned business, is seeking dependable individuals to join their team at Charter Steel in Saukville, WI. This role involves working in the production of steel, contributing to the process of melting, pouring, and shaping steel. The company emphasizes a strong work ethic and a commitment to doing the job right. Two specific positions are available: Billet Conditioner in the Melting Department and Finishing Operator in the Rolling Department.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or GED (we can help through our FREE GEDWorks program)
• Comfortable with basic math (like counting and simple calculations).
• Team player who works well and communicates with others
• Background in manufacturing or industrial production, assembly, warehouse, welding, construction, steel, or other hands on jobs
• Strong safe work mindset

Nice To Haves

• Forklift & Overhead Crane experience is a plus!

Responsibilities

• Rotate through different positions throughout shift.
• Use power tools to remove kerf and support processing.
• Take measurements and record billet information.
• Apply ID tags using a welding torch and mark billets with chalk.
• Perform visual quality inspections.
• Operate an overhead crane.
• Operate conveyors & compactor.
• Trim front and back of coils.
• Assist with mill size changes, including roll changes.
• Operate a forklift.
