About The Position

The Production Operator is responsible for safely operating manufacturing product batches according to formula procedures. Production Operators operate equipment, monitoring product quality, and supporting efficient production processes. This role ensures production processing targets, safety standards, and quality requirements are consistently met. Compounds, mixes and blends product batches, runs production lines and packages by performing the following duties.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous manufacturing or production experience preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Compounding, Batching, Blending, Pre-weigh, or Chemical preferred.
  • This role requires the mandatory use of a respirator. Employees must be clean shaven at all times where the respirator contacts the face. No facial hair that interferes with the respirator seal is permitted. There are no exceptions.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)
  • Ability to use measuring tools and production equipment
  • Speak, read and write English effectively
  • Learn to use and operate scan guns to report and control inventories
  • Physically able to work 8 hrs. shifts

Responsibilities

  • Cross-trained to perform multiple manufacturing functions, allowing flexibility to support production operations based on business needs.
  • Operate production machinery and equipment according to standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Monitor production lines to ensure efficient workflow and product quality
  • Perform routine equipment checks and basic troubleshooting
  • Follow all safety, environmental, and quality regulations
  • Starts machine and observes operation to detect malfunctions of machine. Stops machine and reports malfunction to supervisor.
  • Reads work order or formula to determine types and quantities of materials to weigh and procedure to be followed for manufacturing process.
  • Weighs quantities of materials for use in the manufacturing processes.
  • Load raw materials products in prescribed sequence into vat, hopper or mixing pot.
  • Monitor and log time and temperature as specified on Batch ticket.
  • Accurately records information such as weight, type of product, date and batch number of products produced
  • Maintains accuracy of inventory of materials used and on hand by recording on the batch sheet and marking drums.
  • Perform quality checks during production to ensure products meet production specifications and customer quality standards.
  • Package finished products
  • Places loose or packaged material on scales and adds or removes portions of material to obtain specified weight.
  • Transfers weighed materials to production or storage areas
  • Inspects materials, products, and containers at each step of manufacturing process.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area (5S/housekeeping standards)
  • Report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or quality concerns to supervisors
  • Assist with machine changeovers and setup activities
  • Work collaboratively with maintenance, quality, and production teams
  • Cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment. Performs other routine duties.
