About The Position

At District Photo, our employees are the heart of our company. We are seeking a Bindery and Digital Press Machine Operator in our Phoenix factory. This role requires an adaptable team member capable of operating and maintaining a range of equipment, upholding quality standards, and reading job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements. The operator will set stops or guides to specific lengths, observe machine operation to detect defects or malfunctions, and perform routine and preventative machine maintenance. Additionally, the role involves training new operators, assisting other operators, following safety protocols, and maintaining a clean work area with a high level of accuracy and efficiency.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience operating specialized print press machinery.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be fluent in English, with strong reading and writing skills to interpret technical documents, job specifications, complete reports, and communicate effectively with team members.
  • Familiarity with safety standards, 6S and quality control procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must have a flexible schedule during high production Peak Seasons.
  • Frequently stand on their feet for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Digital Print Press and Bindery equipment such as HP Indigo, Canon, Muller Martini (Vareo, Bindery BA513 and DA260).
  • Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and diagnoses.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain a range of equipment.
  • Uphold Quality Standards by reviewing product for inconsistencies or abnormal appearance.
  • Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Set stops or guides to specific lengths as indicated by scale, rule, or templates.
  • Observe machine operation to detect product defects or machine malfunction and escalate issues to appropriate personnel when required.
  • Perform routine and preventative machine maintenance and document accordingly.
  • Train new operators with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles and contribute to the overall success of the organization.
  • Assist other operators to set up machines and any other necessary tasks to adhere to deadlines and completion of product.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy and efficiency in all aspects of work assignments.
