The Production Operator's main purpose is to manufacture various products using multiple machines, which may include plug/bung machines, presses, saws, grinders, weather stripping machines, different hand tools, and any future machines as the business requires.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Be able to work independently.
  • Have some mechanical aptitude.
  • Must have common sense.
  • Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiple, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Must be able to navigate through the most basic computer programs and software.
  • Know how to use common hand tools.
  • Excellent organization skills and follow through skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Be flexible with the ability to improvise, adapt, and overcome while working under pressure to meet deadlines in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong team player.
  • Be able to work overtime as needed, whether it be to come in early, stay late, or work an occasional Saturday to meet production demands.
  • Handle unforeseen circumstances with tact and resourcefulness.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Being able to read calipers.
  • Being able to read simple and basic prints.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with shipping, sales, and purchasing.
  • Perform basic maintenance on various machines.
  • Maintain a quality product at all times.
  • Perform constant quality checks of all manufactured items using tools such as calipers and templates.
  • Log quality specs multiple times daily.
  • Perform preventative maintenance monthly on machines.
  • Perform light manufacturing such as making weather stripping, hose connectors, reducers, direct nozzles, aluminum weather stripping, and various items as the business increases.
  • Operate forklift for unloading, moving, and stacking material.
  • Troubleshoot and make minor repairs on machines.
