About The Position

This position works under close supervision and is primarily responsible for operating in the Packaging department. The areas are defined as sanitizing, blending, boxing, warehouse/freezer, and bagging. In this role you'll make an impact by setting up (assembles and disassembles), operating, adjusting, cleaning and sanitizing equipment to package products within quality standards and according to procedures. You will also assist others in trained areas as required by production demands or by direction of the Supervisor. Preparing bags and labels for product fills according to work instructions, verifying lots and batch numbers and dumping materials into blender/hopper are key functions. You will be responsible for stacking bags and boxes onto trolley for storage into the freezer, and delivering or picking up raw materials or finished product into and out of a -55°C freezer. Troubleshooting and/or identifying equipment failures or problems, completing necessary paperwork and/or data entry for production and/or inventory records, and participating in continuous improvement activities using Lean concepts and principles are also part of the role. Taking necessary samples for QC testing as needed, adhering to all GMP, including sanitary requirements, Safety, ISO and Standardized Work procedures, and adhering to guidelines as set forth by religious dietary law certifications (Kosher and Halal) are also essential.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts to the production process including conversion of weight and volume in the metric system.
  • Ability to read and follow a production journal to packaging finished goods.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools (hammer, screwdriver, wrench) for assembly and disassembly of equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers regarding the status of the production process.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • High School Diploma or GED

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to operate a pallet walker and/or forklift, preferred.
  • ERP system knowledge (SAP), preferred.
  • Experience in a production environment preferred.
