About The Position

Airgas is hiring a Production Operator Lead in Santa Ana, CA. This role involves evaluating the physical quality assurance of new and return cylinders and bundles, including reviewing year tests, tube accessories, paints, valves, and caps. The lead will also evaluate the condition of frame bundles and manifolds, and assist in sorting cylinders. Additionally, the role includes maintaining treatment equipment, performing cylinder or valve leak tests, managing cylinder painting, facilitating cylinder testing, and overseeing the valving-devalving process. The position also supports the drying & vacuum bake oven process, ensures cylinder consistency, and manages the handover process to the filling area, including initializing GTS barcodes. Responsibilities extend to managing the replacement of accessories, ensuring correct installation of caps and valve types, and accurately attaching stickers. The lead will also manage quality evaluations, such as dew point checks, and perform functional testing on analyzers to maintain high-performance standards.

Requirements

Technical Degree (2 years) preferred
7+ years experience preferred

Responsibilities

Evaluate the physical quality assurance of new and return cylinders & bundles.
Review year tests or tube accessories, paints, valves, and caps.
Evaluate the condition of frame bundles and manifolds.
Assist in sorting between ready-to-fill cylinders and those requiring specialized care.
Evaluate treatment equipment (such as hydrotest machines, dryers, and painting equipment) to ensure a safe and effective work environment.
Facilitate cylinder or valve leak tests using soapy water.
Manage the painting of cylinders in alignment with government compliance and standards.
Facilitate cylinder testing via hydrotest machines.
Manage the valving-devalving process in accordance with AL safety standards.
Facilitate the drying & vacuum bake oven process.
Support the consistency of cylinders according to their specific gas and color coding.
Support a smooth handover process to the filling area.
Initialize GTS barcodes following maintenance.
Manage the replacement of accessories requiring maintenance.
Ensure the correct installation of caps and valve types based on gas and cylinder allocation.
Ensure stickers are accurately attached according to product specifications and grades.
Manage quality evaluations, such as dew point checks per batch cylinder VBO, to meet product specifications.
Support the integrity of all products.
Perform functional testing on analyzers to maintain our high-performance standards.
