About The Position

The Production Operator II is responsible for operating and tending machines that perform packaging functions, including both assembly and downstream packaging automation equipment. This role involves monitoring machine operations, identifying and reporting malfunctions, clearing alarms, and ensuring the quality of finished products. The position also requires maintaining a clean and safe work environment and adhering to all plant health, safety, and quality guidelines, including GMPs. For SQF Certified Sites, additional responsibilities include understanding cGMPs, performing basic sanitation, identifying and reporting food safety or quality issues, and controlling non-conforming products. The role emphasizes acting as the consumer's advocate and ensuring product quality and safety.

Requirements

  • High School or Vo-Tech School graduate
  • Ability to log in to DELMIAWorks (formerly IQMS) and enter production data and complete production forms (batch record).
  • Ability to read, understand and follow documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions, and procedures.
  • Apply basic math skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  • Carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or visual/diagram form.
  • Self-motivated, conscientious, with a results-oriented mindset.
  • Good organizational and communication skills to work independently and also in a team environment.
  • Ability to use measuring devices such as Comparator, Dial indicator, Go/No Go gauges.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with demonstrated ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and demands.
  • Strong technical aptitude, as well as analytical and problem-solving skills to trouble shoot and solve problems.
  • Sound judgment - ability to work efficiently with many competing demands.
  • Ability to communicate their job-related functions with other employees, customers and auditors as needed.
  • Effectively communicate with supervisor.
  • The ability to read, write, and comprehend information provided.
  • Stand for most of the work shift.
  • Use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, crouch, bend, twist, and only occasionally sit.
  • Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Heavier amounts can be moved with assistance of equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3 years prior experience as a production operator.
  • Additional education in related vo-tech, operations or manufacturing field.
  • Prior experience in ISO 9001 and/or ISO13485 manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of and/or previous experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus!

Responsibilities

  • Operates and tends machines that perform packaging functions, including assembly and downstream packaging automation equipment.
  • Starts machines and observes operation to detect malfunctions.
  • Stops machines and reports malfunctions to process technician or supervisor.
  • Clears alarms, runner jams, sensors, and leak detectors.
  • Stages packaging material or WIP components.
  • Ensures quality of finished product, stamps and packs on assembly and downstream packaging automation equipment.
  • Performs visual and basic dimensional inspections to determine overall acceptability and quality of ware.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
  • Adheres to and communicates all plant Health, Safety, and Quality guidelines and GMP.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Understands cGMPs and Good Hygiene Personnel Practices (for SQF sites).
  • Notifies SQF Practitioner and/or Supervisor of any repairs or adjustments required (for SQF sites).
  • Performs Basic Sanitation Functions (for SQF sites).
  • Meets Company and/or Regulatory Requirements/standards as prioritized by the Company, HACCP, and SQF (for SQF sites).
  • Notifies SQF Practitioner/Quality Manager or any other Management personnel of ANY Food Safety or Quality issues (for SQF sites).
  • Identifies problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the raw material, processes, quality system, or safety system by performing Production/Quality Checks (for SQF sites).
  • Initiates action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system (for SQF sites).
  • Executes and follows the HOLD SOP, controlling further processing or delivery of nonconforming product until corrected (for SQF sites).
  • Follows all Food Fraud/Food Defense Policies while on company property (for SQF sites).
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of all Company policies, including GMP’s and safety policies, HACCP & SQF (for SQF sites).
  • Adheres to safety policies.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area and reports any unsafe conditions to supervisor.
  • Wears company-issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as uniforms, gloves, and hairnets.
