About The Position

The Production Operator II is responsible for operating and tending machines that perform packaging functions, including assembly and downstream packaging automation equipment. This role involves monitoring machine operations, identifying and reporting malfunctions, clearing alarms, and ensuring the quality of finished products. The position also requires maintaining a clean and safe work environment and adhering to all plant health, safety, and quality guidelines, including GMP. For SQF Certified Sites, additional responsibilities include understanding cGMPs, performing basic sanitation, and identifying and reporting any food safety or quality issues. The operator must be able to initiate action to prevent nonconformities and follow procedures for handling non-conforming products. A thorough understanding of company policies, including GMP, safety, HACCP, and SQF, is essential. The role also involves data entry into DELMIAWorks, reading and following operating instructions, applying basic math skills, and using measuring devices.

Requirements

  • High School or Vo-Tech School graduate
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend information provided.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with demonstrated ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and demands.
  • Strong technical aptitude, as well as analytical and problem-solving skills to trouble shoot and solve problems.
  • Sound judgment - ability to work efficiently with many competing demands.
  • Ability to communicate their job-related functions with other employees, customers and auditors as needed.
  • Effectively communicate with supervisor.
  • Stand for most of the work shift.
  • Use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, crouch, bend, twist, and occasionally sit.
  • Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Heavier amounts can be moved with assistance of equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3 years prior experience as a production operator.
  • Additional education in related vo-tech, operations or manufacturing field.
  • Prior experience in ISO 9001 and/or ISO13485 manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of and/or previous experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus!

Responsibilities

  • Operates and tends machines that perform packaging functions, both assembly and downstream packaging automation equipment.
  • Starts machines and observes operation to detect malfunctions.
  • Stops machines and reports malfunctions to process technician or supervisor.
  • Clears alarms, runner jams, sensors, and leak detectors.
  • Stages packaging material or WIP components.
  • Ensures quality of finished product, stamps and packs on assembly and downstream packaging automation equipment.
  • Performs visual and basic dimensional inspections to determine overall acceptability and quality of ware.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
  • Adheres to and communicates plant Health, Safety, and Quality guidelines and GMP.
  • Performs basic sanitation functions.
  • Identifies problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of raw material, processes, quality system, or safety system by performing Production/Quality Checks.
  • Initiates action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system.
  • Executes and follows the HOLD SOP, controlling further processing or delivery of nonconforming product until corrected.
  • Follows all Food Fraud/Food Defense Policies.
  • Enters production data into DELMIAWorks (formerly IQMS) and completes production forms (batch record).
  • Reads, understands, and follows documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions, and procedures.
  • Applies basic math skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  • Uses measuring devices such as Comparator, Dial indicator, Go/No Go gauges.
  • Works in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, handling and prioritizing multiple tasks and demands.
  • Troubleshoots and solves problems using strong technical aptitude, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Communicates job-related functions with other employees, customers, and auditors as needed.
  • Effectively communicates with supervisor.
