This role is responsible for operating, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining can-making machinery to ensure the efficient production of aluminum cans while adhering to established safety, quality, and productivity standards. The Production Operator will operate and monitor equipment such as can forming machines, presses, trimmers, liners, and other machinery involved in the can making process. They will inspect finished cans for defects, ensure proper dimensions, and perform quality checks to maintain product quality standards. This role also involves handling raw materials, loading materials onto machines, and monitoring material supply. The operator will set up machines according to production requirements, adjust settings as needed, and troubleshoot equipment issues to minimize downtime. Additionally, they will assist maintenance technicians in performing routine maintenance tasks, cleaning equipment, and conducting minor repairs. The role requires optimizing machine performance, minimizing waste, and maximizing production output while maintaining quality and efficiency standards. Adherence to safety protocols, use of PPE, and following safety guidelines are crucial. The operator will maintain production records, log equipment downtime, report quality issues, and communicate effectively with supervisors and team members. Maintaining 5S principles and ensuring optimal area cleanliness and housekeeping standards are consistently met is also a key responsibility. The role includes food safety responsibilities, requiring notification of management about actual or potential food safety issues and empowerment to act to resolve them within their scope of work.
