About The Position

The Production Manager oversees all manufacturing production activities, including bridging the gap between production planning and execution. This role ensures that production maintains high safety and quality standards, meets schedules, and uses resources efficiently. The Production Manager works closely with other departments like quality assurance, quality control, production control, shipping and receiving and maintenance to keep production running smoothly and find ways to improve processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • 7 to 10 years of experience in production management, preferably in manufacturing or equivalent technical experience.
  • At least 7 years of experience managing production operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the manufacturing production teams across all shifts to achieve goals related to safety, quality, on time delivery, production thruput, continuous improvement, and cost.
  • Manage day-to-day production operations, ensuring that schedules are met and resources like labor, materials, and machinery are used effectively.
  • Make sure all production activities follow safety regulations and company policies.
  • Work with other departments to solve production and logistical challenges and improve processes.
  • Oversee production processes, ensuring equipment is used correctly, workflows are efficient, and quality standards are met.
  • Plan and coordinate projects related to production, such as new product introductions and process improvements.
  • Identify areas for improvement in production efficiency, quality, and cost and take action to address them.
  • Lead, manage and support the production teams, providing the resources and guidance they need to do their jobs effectively.
  • Handle hiring, training, and performance evaluations for direct reports, and manage any necessary promotions, transfers, or disciplinary actions.
  • Work with external vendors for production materials, equipment maintenance, and logistics as needed.
  • Plan for future production needs, ensuring the facility can meet customer demands while keeping costs down.
  • Ensure consistency and best practices across all production lines.
  • Maintain an inventory of production materials and equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Coordinate with other departments, such as procurement and quality control, to ensure smooth production operations.
  • Oversee 6S, operator housekeeping and maintenance activities for production equipment to keep everything running smoothly.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts and help maintain relevant certifications: IATF16949, ISO45001, and ISO14001.
  • Keep all production records and documents accurate and up to date.
  • Provide updates to the VP of Operations on any issues or progress in the department.
  • Ensure that safety systems related to production are working properly, in coordination with HR.
  • Respond quickly to any safety hazards in the production area.
