About The Position

The Production Manager, Body Plant will manage the workflow, output, and schedule of the Body Build Process. They will continuously improve production processes, foster an environment focused on safety and quality, and lead team members’ development. The Production Manager- Body Plant will take the initiative to resolve issues quickly and escalate complex problems as appropriate while providing project and line status updates to management and other departments as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership role, with a proven ability to guide projects or mentor individuals is required.
  • Strong mechanical and technical aptitude required.
  • Able to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Able to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, vendors, and the general public.
  • Able to effectively communicate with tact and diplomacy at all times to develop relationships with internal and external contacts to provide excellent customer service and conflict management.
  • Able to follow written and verbal directions and communicate new information that could affect project trajectories.
  • Able to communicate goals effectively to a team.
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
  • Able to perform intermediate PC functions in Microsoft Office including the use of spreadsheet tables and formulas.
  • Able to work professionally with all levels of the Rosenbauer organization, customers, and vendors.

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor’s degree in business management, engineering, or project management focus, or related field is preferred.
  • Experience with leading change improvement/5S preferred.
  • 1+ years of hands-on fire truck product knowledge from either a manufacturing or fire department perspective preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage the entire workflow, output, and execution of the Body Plant build process to ensure all production activities are precisely aligned with both the production and master schedules to meet daily output targets and delivery commitments.
  • Maintain constant vigilance over production flow, making critical real time decisions on when to escalate major deviations to the schedule or quality to senior leadership for timely intervention.
  • Oversee and maintain a robust communication infrastructure for the entire production operation by leading regular production team meetings, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of the official production schedule status updates.
  • Lead and manage all key production-related projects by applying formal project management and level-loading methodologies, specifically CCPM (Critical Chain Project Management) principles to optimize resource allocation and schedule efficiency, ensuring all projects successfully pass through a state-gate review process and are delivered on time with high quality.
  • Cultivate and sustain a robust problem-solving culture by training and mentoring supervisors to create a culture where team members are empowered to identify, own, and resolve issues at the source.
  • Promote a culture of open communication and trust through employee engagement.
  • Drive a culture of quality by designing and implementing effective control gates and checkpoints throughout the Body Plant production process, ensuring products consistently meet or exceed quality standards.
  • Drive team excellence by actively managing employee relations and fostering individual development. Function as a skilled coach and performance counselor to resolve complex issues and facilitate effective team communication. This will also include direct responsibility for all talent management activities like recruiting, development, performance counseling, and retention planning.
  • Promote a culture of safety and transparency by consistently demonstrating a commitment to company policies, actively listening to team concerns, and ensuring open lines of communication.
  • Open to and continuously learning and implementing lean manufacturing methodologies (e.g. Standardized Work, Flow Planning, VSM/VSD, 5S, and Work Instructions).
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required to meet the needs of the department.
