JOB SUMMARY: The Production Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing the full production lifecycle across compounding, filling, assembly, kitting, and related manufacturing operations. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this role ensures that all products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and in compliance with quality and regulatory standards, while meeting production schedules and business objectives. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role that partners closely with R&D, Quality, Supply Chain, and Warehouse operations to ensure seamless execution from formulation through finished goods. The Production Manager drives operational excellence, team performance, and continuous improvement across the manufacturing floor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Operations, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • 5–10 years of experience in manufacturing or production leadership roles, preferably in cosmetics, personal care, pharmaceuticals, or related industries.
  • Experience overseeing full production lines, including compounding, filling, assembly, and packaging operations.
  • Strong understanding of GMP environments and FDA regulatory requirements, including OTC products.
  • Experience managing production teams in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Proven ability to improve production efficiency, quality, and team performance.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on, floor-based leadership role.

Responsibilities

  • Production Leadership & Execution Oversee end-to-end production operations, including compounding, filling, assembly, and kitting.
  • Ensure production schedules are executed efficiently to meet demand, timelines, and service levels.
  • Monitor daily production performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to improve throughput.
  • Maintain visibility across all stages of production to ensure alignment and flow between departments.
  • Compounding, Filling & Assembly Oversight Ensure compounding activities are executed according to formulations, batch records, and SOPs.
  • Oversee filling operations to ensure product integrity, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Manage assembly and kitting processes to ensure accuracy, quality, and on-time completion.
  • Ensure smooth coordination between compounding, filling, and downstream operations.
  • Quality, Compliance & Safety Ensure all production activities comply with GMP standards, FDA regulations, and OTC requirements where applicable.
  • Partner with Quality to ensure adherence to batch records, in-process checks, and release requirements.
  • Maintain a strong focus on workplace safety, ensuring adherence to all safety standards.
  • Support audits, inspections, and corrective actions as needed.
  • Process Improvement & Operational Excellence Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
  • Support implementation and improvement of SOPs, batch manufacturing records, and production workflows.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across all areas of production.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with Supply Chain to ensure material availability and production readiness.
  • Collaborate with R&D to support new product introductions and scale-up.
  • Work closely with Quality to address deviations, non-conformances, and process improvements.
  • Align with leadership on production goals, capacity planning, and operational priorities.
  • Team Leadership & Development Lead, coach, and develop production supervisors, leads, and operators across all production functions.
  • Establish clear expectations, performance standards, and accountability across the production team.
  • Foster a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Support hiring, training, and workforce planning in partnership with HR.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager and/or the Chief Manufacturing Officer.
