We are seeking a hands‑on, results‑driven Production Manager to lead daily operations within our lumber remanufacturing plants (BLR/TLR). This role is responsible for executing the production plan, managing personnel, maximizing throughput, minimizing downtime, and ensuring product quality and safety standards are consistently upheld. The Production Manager serves as the critical link between strategic production planning and frontline execution—directing, communicating, and actively managing operations in real time to ensure production goals are achieved. This position reports to the Plant Manager and directly oversees Production Leads and hourly team members.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in manufacturing, production management, or industrial operations required
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a fast‑paced, team‑driven environment
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to direct and motivate teams
  • Operational mindset with a focus on efficiency, throughput, and continuous improvement
  • Analytical problem‑solver with the ability to identify root causes and implement solutions
  • Solid understanding of safety practices and compliance requirements
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, real‑time environment
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
  • Detail‑oriented with a commitment to quality and process consistency
  • Comfortable using production tracking systems, spreadsheets, and reporting tools

Responsibilities

  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high‑performance team environment
  • Promote open communication across shifts, teams, and departments
  • Support onboarding, mentoring, cross‑training, and employee development
  • Partner with HR on employee relations, performance management, and compliance
  • Execute daily production plans using Theory of Constraints (TOC) principles
  • Actively manage line operations in real time, monitoring output, labor, quality, yield, and downtime
  • Identify bottlenecks and adjust staffing or workflow to maximize throughput
  • Track labor utilization, material waste, and overall production performance
  • Champion a strong safety culture and enforce all safety SOPs (PPE, Lockout/Tagout, etc.)
  • Conduct safety walks, meetings, and toolbox talks; address unsafe conditions immediately
  • Ensure adherence to product specifications, grading standards, labeling, and SOPs
  • Investigate defects, resolve issues, and drive continuous process improvements
  • Track and analyze downtime; partner with Maintenance on root cause solutions
  • Monitor recurring issues and support preventive maintenance efforts
  • Utilize systems and reports to track performance and communicate key metrics
  • Maintain clean, safe, and “visitor‑ready” facilities and support audit readiness
