About The Position

We are seeking a seasoned and dynamic Production Manager to lead the production, maintenance, and logistics teams of our plant in Ottawa. This role is crucial for overseeing daily operations, driving team performance, implementing process improvements, and ensuring efficient workflow and timely deliveries.

Requirements

  • 7 to 10 years experience as a production manager in a manufacturing setting
  • 3 to 5 years experience in the steel, aluminium, precast, rebar or related industries
  • Strong leadership skills, resourcefulness, and autonomy
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal abilities
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • High team spirit and cooperative attitude

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Administration or related field
  • Interest in working with an outdoor plant all year round

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations across production, maintenance and logistics departments
  • Lead and drive a team of 2 supervisors and logistics personnel ensuring employee engagement and objectives are met
  • Develop, track and build strategies to attain and exceed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs
  • Foster a positive, motivating work environment for employees focused on high performance and teamwork
  • Work in close collaboration with the drafting/technical drawing department and the installation department to ensure good communication and efficient workflow
  • Manage logistics department to make sure deliveries are accurate and on time
  • Responsible for the operations budget maximizing cost effectiveness and ROI
  • Prepare manufacturing schedules based on customer requests and specifications, and coordinate production priorities
  • Manage timesheets and payroll reporting for shop staff
  • Draft planning reports, keep the manufacturing log up to date, and monitor the manufacturing production system
  • Participate in production and quality review meetings
  • Conduct plant walkthroughs to validate compliance with directives and implement action plans regarding operational variances
  • Responsible for the machine safety plan and ensuring compliance with OHS (Occupational Health and Safety) procedures in the plants
