About The Position

The Production Manager is responsible for planning, leading, and managing complex, multi-shift production and distribution operations. This role involves analyzing production and quality control reports, identifying root causes of quality issues, and implementing corrective actions. The manager will plan and direct production activities, establish priorities, and manage a team of supervisors. A strong focus on promoting a safe work environment, ensuring compliance with safety programs, and collaborating with various departments like General Manager, Human Resources, Engineering, and CI is essential. The goal is to build a world-class production team and sustainable processes that exceed customer expectations, while maintaining a servant leader mindset.

Requirements

  • Experience managing production and distribution operations.
  • Ability to review and analyze production, quality control and operational reports.
  • Skill in analyzing quality issues and determining root cause.
  • Experience in planning and directing production activities.
  • Experience managing supervisors (4-6 direct reports).
  • Experience performing performance evaluations and reviews.
  • Knowledge of promoting a safe work environment and identifying safety hazards.
  • Experience serving on a Safety Committee.
  • Ability to set production schedules and goals.
  • Ability to report on departmental performance and identify obstacles.
  • Experience reporting on back orders and resolution measures.
  • Understanding of HR hiring practices and policies.
  • Ability to maintain consistency in adherence to HR/employment policies.
  • Experience in training, motivating, and rewarding employees.
  • Support for Open Door Policy and Employee Communication programs.
  • Experience evaluating factory performance.
  • Ability to develop plans for Capital Requisitions and Continuous Improvement activities.
  • Experience implementing production changes and tracking pertinent data/KPI.
  • Ability to achieve annual metrics and goals.
  • Experience building a production team and sustainable processes.
  • Servant Leader Mind-Set.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, lead and manage complex, multi-shift production and distribution operations.
  • Review and analyze production, quality control and operational reports.
  • Analyze quality issues and determine root cause to develop and implement corrective actions.
  • Plan and direct production activities and establish priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
  • Manage 4 to 6 supervisors as direct reports, performing annual evaluations, and mid-year reviews, providing positive recognition and/or corrective action as necessary.
  • Promote safe work environment, including identifying safety hazards, performing timely follow up on safety issues and corrections.
  • Serve as a Safety Committee member and leader, ensure compliance with and champion all safety programs.
  • Set Production schedules and goals with the General Manager.
  • Report on Departments that are behind schedule, identifying reasons and removing obstacles to meet production completion and ship dates.
  • Report on back orders and measures being taken to resolve backorder issues.
  • Work with Human Resources on hiring practices of new employees, and work with Department Managers on following hiring/transfer policy.
  • Maintain consistency in adherence to established HR / employment policies in areas of responsibility.
  • Work with Department Managers on training, motivating, and rewarding employees.
  • Support Open Door Policy and establish Employee Communication programs.
  • Work with General Manager, Sr Engineering Manager and CI Manager to evaluate factory performance and develop plan for Capital Requisitions and Continuous Improvement activities to reach current and future production goals.
  • Work with teams to implement production changes to achieve current and future goals, tracking pertinent data/KPI to evaluate effectiveness.
  • Achieve annual metrics, as determined with General Manager, to promote VT Industries reaching annual goals.
  • Build a World-Class Production Team and sustainable processes that exceed customer expectations.
  • Maintain and promote a Servant Leader Mind-Set.
  • Other duties as assigned.
