About The Position

American Plastics, a leading injection molded plastics manufacturer, is seeking a Production Manager for its Jefferson City, MO facility. This role is responsible for overseeing daily plant operations, including leading production supervisors and staff, fostering a zero-injury work culture, driving continuous improvement, and maintaining plant organization and housekeeping. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of injection molding processes, TPS systems, and production scheduling. This position reports to the Plant Manager.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Operations Management, Engineering, Business Management, or related field.
Minimum 5 years related experience.
Plastic Injection knowledge is a MUST.
Minimum 5 years of Production Management Experience.
Must be a team player with strong and effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and written, and interact with people.
Demonstrated proficiency with PC software (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
Ability to learn/use ERP system (AS400 experience is highly preferred).
Willing to be on the floor as well as office management ('roll up your sleeves' mindset).

Responsibilities

Directing a team of production supervisors, production staff, and support staff.
Leading a zero-injury work culture.
Overseeing all daily activities within the plant, including production functions.
Driving continuous improvement and scrap reduction.
Ensuring plant organization and housekeeping.
Implementing Lean Manufacturing Standards and Improvement Opportunities.
Practicing proper PPE compliance and maintaining a safe working record and environment.
Performing mold changes and new mold startups.
Meeting or exceeding standard production efficiencies on all production lines.
Scheduling of weekly production and tooling changeovers.
Leading and developing process technicians, supervisors, and mold setters.
Troubleshooting equipment/process problems.
Issuing work assignments and ensuring orders are started, paused, and stopped properly.
Implementing and maintaining 6S standards.
Working with other department leaders to ensure a safe, inclusive environment.
Daily scheduling of all manufacturing equipment, machine capacity, and balancing shipping dates.
Planning, developing, and implementing organization policies and goals.
Performing other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
