About The Position

Under the direction of the Director of Production, the Production Manager ensures the production of company products at the highest quality and lowest cost possible, while meeting company performance standards, customer specifications, and delivery requirements.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, production schedules, purchase orders, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write reports, procedure manuals, and correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of specification and information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Experience using computer applications, including Microsoft Office and Manufacturing Software

Responsibilities

  • Communicates and enforces safety policies.
  • Fosters a culture of collaboration, lean thinking, and continuous improvement.
  • Prioritizes, schedules and delegates work assignments and directly supervises the plant staff to ensure the achievement of production objectives at the lowest cost consistent with company quality requirements.
  • Manages and maintains adequate staffing levels to produce required product in the most cost effective manner.
  • Develops and manages plant KPI’s.
  • Ensures the training of new and present employees in the processes and methods required to achieve the company’s standards for quality, quantity, safety, and ISO 9001.
  • Participates in planning meetings, recommending space, personnel, and equipment requirements.
  • Ensures adherence to ISO9001 procedures and requirements.
  • Reviews part and material shortages with purchasing and works with production planning to adjust schedules as necessary.
  • Develops and implements preventative maintenance procedures and plans the repair of machines and equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Continually evaluates processes and methods, recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment, performance, utilization of people, and quality of product to proactively identify and resolve production bottlenecks.
  • Acts as a technical resource to address and resolve inquiries and problems; and analyzes and resolves work problems, and assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Maintains departmental supplies, tools, equipment, and orders as necessary.
  • Ensures the completion of all required production paperwork, records, documentation, such as time cards and quality records.
  • Ensures compliance with departmental housekeeping standards and all safety and work rules and regulations.
