About The Position

The Production Manager coordinates and manages the manufacturing activities of several areas, ensuring to reach the manufacturing volume and quality standards within the approved operation budget. Every day at Hubbell is different and you’ll contribute in many ways. On any given day, you’ll make a difference by supervising production tasks, collaborating with quality and manufacturing engineering, providing advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring employees on operations initiatives and necessary changes. You will also be responsible for planning, organizing, and managing activities necessary to meet production schedules and cost objectives, selecting and maintaining qualified personnel, executing plans for additional equipment, improved processes, and facilities, maintaining safety programs, leading overall strategic planning, ensuring manufacturing capabilities meet or exceed industry and customer standards, facilitating a work environment that supports a safe and healthy culture, managing requirements for cost, quality, and responsiveness, preparing the organization for ongoing change, developing and managing the annual operating budget in partnership with the Plant Manager, leading managers to evaluate and take actions consistent with the company’s overall strategy, monitoring performance against goals, and assisting Human Resources in resolving personnel problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Management, or a related field (Required)
  • 6+ years of experience with manufacturing, leading a team, or relevant experience (required)
  • Proficiency in Excel along with all other computer skills (required)
  • Working knowledge of SAP (Required)
  • Working knowledge of at least one of the following processes/equipment is (required): High volume Mechanical Connectors Manufacturing, Manual or automated assembly, Injection Molding (EPDM & PVC), Custom Drilling and Tapping

Nice To Haves

  • Training and experience implementing LEAN manufacturing preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Financial Management
  • Demonstrated skill to read and understand basic component part drawings
  • Demonstrated skill to read and understand basic manufacturing routers
  • Demonstrated skill to read and understand basic bills of material, manufacturing work instructions

Responsibilities

  • Supervising the production tasks, collaborating with quality, and manufacturing engineering.
  • Providing advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring employees on operations initiatives and necessary changes.
  • Planning, organizing, and managing the activities necessary to meet production schedules and cost objectives.
  • Selecting and maintaining qualified personnel in all positions reporting directly and supervising the hiring, development, evaluation, and termination, if necessary, of all other personnel responsible for direct reports.
  • Executing plans for additional equipment, improved processes, and facilities when required.
  • Maintaining safety programs to ensure conformance to company, corporate and government requirements.
  • Leading overall strategic planning to include production and productivity improvement activities and growth strategies.
  • Ensuring that manufacturing capabilities meet or exceed all industry and customer standards.
  • Facilitating a work environment that supports a safe and healthy culture.
  • Managing requirements for cost, quality, and responsiveness.
  • Preparing the organization for ongoing change.
  • Developing and managing the annual operating budget in partnership with the Plant Manager
  • Leading managers to evaluate and take actions that are consistent with the company’s overall strategy.
  • Monitoring performance against performance goals to ensure progress is being made.
  • Assisting Human Resources in resolving personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.
