Under the direction of the Operations Manager/Plan Manager, and within the framework of company policy, the Production Manager is accountable for leading and controlling the use of human resources, capital, equipment, and materials in the manufacturing operation, consistent with CSI Values, to produce the highest quality closures at the lowest cost, maximizing customer satisfaction. This role involves managing an aggressive effort to meet all Safety Goals and achieve the CSI Business Plan Manufacturing Goals. The Production Manager is responsible for continuously improving PSY/MPI performance (scrap and productivity), driving process improvements, and employing Operational Excellence (OPEX) concepts. They will also assist in the development of production supervisors and operations personnel, supporting effective training and development programs utilizing OPEX principles, TQC, SPC, TPM, and JIT. This includes implementing and providing training, coaching, and counseling to increase overall effectiveness, involvement, accountability, and attainment of results. The role requires supporting the Operations and Quality Manager by developing, establishing, and implementing standardized work, understanding and utilizing statistical process control (SPC) and quality tools (e.g., problem-solving strategies, root cause analysis, TQM, ISO 9000, SOP Process) to improve processes, maximize yield, and reduce costs. Establishing and maintaining excellent communication with the Operations Manager and all other department managers in a team-oriented environment is crucial. Personal development for potential growth into positions of increasing responsibility is also a key aspect. The Production Manager must understand financial objectives, meet or exceed financial performance targets, participate in forecasting and financial analysis, and manage capital projects. They will be responsible for improving processes to reduce scrap and defects while improving throughput, providing expert troubleshooting on process issues, and determining appropriate courses of action. Understanding customer needs, corresponding product features, and process capabilities is essential, as is the successful implementation of new products and processes. Training in the appropriate use of problem-solving and quality tools and their utilization for cost and quality improvements is also required.
