About The Position

The Production Manager is responsible for directing forming, mold repair, and machine repair departments to obtain optimum performances in safety, quality, and performance efficiencies at the lowest operating cost. This role ensures the manufacturing of glass containers are within customer specifications and quality standards, manages departmental budgets, and establishes and maintains a safe and healthy work environment. The Production Manager also monitors department performances, reports on negative impacted areas, and develops and implements continuous improvement strategies, while complying with environmental and food safety standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Twelve (12) years of experience in glass manufacturing with an emphasis on the forming process and management experience
  • Prior experience with mold repair, machine repair, and job changes
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient organizational, analytical, and planning skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work in a heavy industrial, high-risk work environment
  • Ability to work outside of regular work hours
  • Ability to prioritize work and have a sense of urgency
  • Ability to travel up to 5%

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline
  • Fifteen (15) years of experience in glass manufacturing with an emphasis on the forming process and management experience
  • Prior experience with the plant's forming process (i.e. press, blow-and-blow, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Directing forming, mold repair, and machine repair departments to obtain optimum performances in safety, quality, and performance efficiencies at the lowest operating cost.
  • Ensuring the manufacturing of glass containers are within customer specifications and quality standards.
  • Selecting and developing employees to adequately staff the forming department which includes salary administration, effective employee and union relations, developmental and training opportunities, and succession planning.
  • Managing departmental budgets including time, labor, and spending costs.
  • Establishing and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment always striving for zero accidents.
  • Monitoring department performances and reporting on negative impacted areas while developing and implementing continuous improvement.
  • Complying with environmental and food safety standards as outlined in plant policies within the department.
