The Production Manager Trainee is responsible for learning, demonstrating knowledge and skills, and becoming certified in all aspects of company systems and the pork industry standards. This position functions under the supervision of the appropriate department leader while performing all duties and responsibilities as a learning/development process. The trainee will gain a solid understanding of and ability to implement company systems such as pig production processes, animal flow, farm health, genetics, and husbandry. They will perform and master all hourly jobs under supervision, becoming certified in each after demonstrating competence. The role involves developing and preparing required reports, complying with environmental laws and procedures, and completing Leadership Certification. Incumbents are responsible for understanding and complying with company IPS, biosecurity, animal welfare, and EMS policies and procedures. They must report all environmental, animal care, and biosecurity issues immediately to their supervisor. The trainee may act as the Head of Department (HOD) as needed and must be on call for emergency situations. Progression in the Manager Training development program is required, and any issues interfering with this progression must be reported to Human Resources.
