About The Position

The Bernard Group is looking for a Production Manager to join their Machine Room team. This role is responsible for managing, mentoring, and coaching Supervisors, Leads, and employees working in the Machine Room production area. The Production Manager will ensure work is monitored and controlled to meet TBG's quality standards and client schedule expectations. This role involves training employees on efficient machine operations and new equipment, managing variable costs (direct labor, materials), reducing scrap and rework, identifying resource needs (human capital or machinery), and creating cost/benefit analyses. The position also includes responsibility for performance reviews, staff development, employee engagement, and disciplinary actions. Responsibilities

  • Manage, mentor, and coach Supervisors, Leads, and employees in the Machine Room production area.
  • Ensure work is monitored and controlled to meet quality standards and client schedule expectations.
  • Train employees on efficient machine operations and new equipment.
  • Manage variable costs such as direct labor and materials.
  • Reduce scrap and the need for re-work.
  • Identify the need for additional resources (human capital or machinery) and create cost/benefit analysis.
  • Conduct performance reviews, support staff development, and manage employee engagement.
  • Address necessary disciplinary actions.
  • Motivate, mentor, coach, and train employees for professional development, employee engagement, and the creation of a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Set high performance expectations, audit those expectations, and provide feedback.
  • Work closely with Production Supervisors and other production area leadership in prioritizing and directing department work flow.
  • Support a safe environment, driving towards 0 OSHA recordables.
  • Audit quality processes for accuracy and consistency.
  • Ensure assembly integrity through continuous monitoring of departmental processes.
  • Maintain high quality standards.
  • Oversee the maintenance of appropriate levels of supplies to meet production requirements.
  • Monitor issues and receipts for work orders.
  • Establish open lines of communication with the production floor.
  • Represent corporate policy and communicate to employees.
  • Ensure training and skills matrix are in compliance with training policy.
  • Work toward continuous improvement.
  • Implement and execute new hire training and provide learning opportunities.
  • Handle necessary ADP and EPACE functions.
  • Monitor efficiency and productivity and implement improvements.
  • Drive improvements in material flow, including cell design and material delivery.
  • Interact with other support departments as required.
  • Provide cost/benefit analysis for the acquisition of new equipment.
  • Troubleshoot production problems to ensure productivity and quality standards are met.
  • Perform duties in other areas of the Fabrication department, as needed.
