About The Position

The Production Line Lead is responsible for working with all packaging personnel to meet set objectives and KPIs for their assigned stations regarding productivity, efficiency, organization of product quality, employee safety, and food safety. This role involves leading and operating various packing and blending lines with minimal supervision, overseeing and operating all associated equipment, and directing the daily activities of shift employees. The Lead ensures orders meet customer and product specifications, communicates daily with supervisors and relevant employees, and maintains product quality and a safe, clean work environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and write English.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize jobs.
  • Must be able to operate the Forklift.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be a "team player", able to work well with fellow employees.
  • Must be dependable, reliable, and able to work independently.
  • Good attendance required.
  • Must be able to work overtime and/or weekends as needed.
  • Strong leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Successfully leading and operating all packing and blending lines (1,2,5,8,10,4,14, Minipack and Effytec) with minimum supervision.
  • Overseeing and operating all equipment in the lines, including Pattyn, case erectors, dumpers, forklifts, robot palletizers, conveyors, elevators, metal detectors, printers, and x-rays.
  • Overseeing and directing daily activities of assigned packaging shift employees such as machine operators, sorters, general laborers, and packing forklift drivers.
  • Ensuring each order is according to customer specs or GDN product specs, blending strategies, and labeling specifications.
  • Involving daily communication with Operations Supervisor and all employees necessary in the operations process.
  • Ensuring operation of equipment by overseeing daily set up of machinery and equipment prior to production for efficient and effective operation.
  • Maintaining product quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
  • Monitoring the production process to ensure a smooth flow and resolving operation problems for the shift.
  • Monitoring the performance of bulk packing line employees to ensure they are meeting production targets/KPIs.
  • Visually inspecting products and/or operations to ensure quality of products inbound and outbound in packaging lines.
  • Carrying out company GMPs, personnel, and safety policies while maintaining discipline within the plant.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources, and maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Supporting, participating in, and enforcing GDN safety policies, company rules, and code of safe practice.
  • Performing all positions of rotation, if applicable, to cover absences.
  • Following and ensuring adherence to established Grower Direct Nut Co., local, state, and federal regulations and requirements, as well as food safety, sanitation, food production, and nutritional guidelines.
  • Establishing and ensuring adherence to procedures and standards that agree with these regulations, requirements, and guidelines.
