About The Position

Responsible for leading and actively contributing to assigned production team and is accountable for achieving safety, quality, delivery, cost, equipment performance, and people development objectives. This role serves as both the operational leader and a visible, productive member of the manufacturing team, spending majority of time on the production floor and actively participating in value-creating activities. Owns daily performance of their production team, including safety, quality, throughput, cost, equipment performance, and team development. Works alongside operators and leads and drives operational excellence through coaching, training, troubleshooting, problem solving, and continuous improvement while fostering a safe, engaged, and accountable work environment that supports SCT's mission, vision, and values and business objectives.

Requirements

  • Directly supervises two (2) to twenty-five (25) non-supervisory team members.
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of designated team(s).
  • Carries out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing complaints and resolving issues in compliance with any applicable employment law guidelines and upon consultation with the Vice President of Operations, Site Leader, Production Manager, Chief People and Technology Officer, Regional People Experience Manager, and/or People Business Partner if necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Consistently executes daily Leader Standard Work to drive accountability, communication, and operational excellence
  • Owns Production team performance in safety, quality, throughput, cost, and people development.
  • Plans work schedules, assignments, staffing, and production sequences to meet customer and production requirements
  • Leads from production floor through active participation in machine operation, make-readies, troubleshooting, setup verification, and quality audits.
  • Functions as a working leader, spending approximately 80% of time on the floor and 50% of time directly engaged in productive, value-creating manufacturing activities such as machine operation, make-readies, quality verification, troubleshooting, training, and process improvement.
  • Drives culture that prioritizes safety through visible leadership, communication, accountability, and hazard elimination
  • Ensures team members receive effective training, coaching, and development to build technical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Promotes, educates, and enforces quality standards while ensuring compliance with SCT's Quality Program
  • Leads root cause investigations and corrective actions to resolve safety, quality, and production issues
  • Partners with Continuous Improvement, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance to improve productivity, reliability, and manufacturability
  • Develops and maintains technical expertise in equipment, processes, quality systems, and standardized work practices
  • Promotes workplace organization and discipline through 5S, Leader Standard Work, and Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Maintains production, labor, quality, and operational performance records and communicates results to leadership
  • Develops Lead Operators and high-potential employees through coaching, mentoring, and succession planning
  • Owns shift management with fellow Production Leaders to ensure effective shift handoffs and shared ownership of team performance
  • Communicates company objectives, operational priorities, and performance expectations while addressing employee concerns as needed
  • Manages attendance, timecards, vacation requests, staffing, and overtime requirements to support production needs
  • Participates in hiring, onboarding, performance management, and employee development activities
  • Adapts to and implements new processes, technologies, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, and efficiency.
