About The Position

JOB DETAILS Starting Pay is $21 per hour 1st shift: Monday - Friday, 5:00am to 3:30pm (Saturdays based on business need) DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The primary responsibility of a Team Leader in the Glass Department is to provide effective leadership, clear communication, and ongoing training to a team of employees. This role involves setting direction, offering guidance, and fostering a motivated work environment to ensure operational success. The Team Leader is accountable for achieving departmental goals by efficiently managing daily workflows, delegating tasks, and monitoring progress. By serving as both a mentor and facilitator, the Team Leader cultivates a collaborative and high-performing team that aligns with the organization's standards and objectives. Additionally, a Glass Production Team Lead also has the following primary functions: prepare glass batches for their Intercept Glass Line with established production schedules using Glass On Demand Kanban. Safely maintain production and quality standards of their team at or above budget goals and meet daily performance to plan goals set forth by management.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of manufacturing or production scheduling experience required
  • High school diploma or equivalent GED preferred required.
  • Ability to read and understand work instructions (English).
  • Ability to push glass carts weighing over 600lbs to the glass lines for production needs.
  • Mathematical skills as related to measurements.
  • Ability to take supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work as a team member.
  • Must be able to safely perform essential job responsibilities.
  • Regular full-time attendance

Nice To Haves

  • Familiar with operating machinery/power tools.
  • Familiar with GED/WinIG machinery and software are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Conduct stand-up meetings with team; notate current absenteeism and communicate with Supervisor.
  • Train new employees and instruct current employees to work safely and efficiently according to company policy.
  • Plan and maintain time and work schedules as required per the Supervisor.
  • Set up glass lines with raw materials to fabricate insulated windows (in order) according to the Glass On Demand Kanban
  • Fill out glass line PVA Boards every hour, notating production wins and discrepancies.
  • Fill out WIT Board and administer WIT Board meetings with their employees daily.
  • Keep track of daily scrap and monitor line production.
  • Work with QC and Supervisor to minimize loss production and product.
  • Verify Quality/Safety checks are being completed throughout the shift.
  • Monitor repair rack throughout shift to ensure batches are complete before sealing.
  • Participate in Cornerstone Building Brands Continuous Improvement efforts by understanding his/her team’s performance and actively implementing and supporting process improvements.
  • Cut glass repairs when necessary to complete glass batches.
  • Interprets and applies Cornerstone Building Brands Core Values and Behaviors & Mindsets every shift.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area utilizing 5S.
  • Sustain manufacturing methods, such as 5S, PQCDSM, Problem Solving, Visual Management, Line Organization and KPI’s (Key Production Indicators).
  • Ensure compliance with TQC process and other quality measures.
  • Ensure, through the Company’s On-Boarding program, that associates are adequately trained to perform their jobs and properly mentored/trained in proper procedures and compliance.
  • Ensures all components and paperwork for next schedule are ready.
  • Interacts with other shift Team Leaders, Supervisors, Quality Assurance, Production Staff and Warehouse operations to achieve smooth production runs.
  • Works closely with maintenance personnel to ensure all equipment is running at optimal levels for expected output and product quality
  • Cooperates with all departments and assists if needed.
  • Provides employees with prompt and constructive feedback on performance.
  • May perform reasonably similar or related duties as instructed.
