About The Position

dormakaba is seeking a first shift (6:00AM-2:30PM) Production Lead based in Indianapolis, IN. The Production Lead provides day-to-day operational and technical leadership within an assigned manufacturing area by coordinating workflow, supporting team members, ensuring adherence to standardized work, and promoting a safe, quality-focused production environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrated expertise operating, setting up, troubleshooting, and optimizing complex manufacturing equipment and processes
  • Experience delivering technical training, mentoring employees, validating operator competency, and supporting cross-training initiatives
  • Equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, apprenticeships, and relevant manufacturing leadership experience will be considered.
  • Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV) certification and other job-specific equipment certifications required, or the ability to obtain certification within established timeframes
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the work shift in a manufacturing environment
  • Frequent use of hands, arms, and fingers to operate manufacturing equipment, tools, controls, computers, and inspection devices
  • Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and repetitive movements associated with manufacturing operations, equipment setup, and troubleshooting
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials, tooling, and components weighing up to 35 pounds on a regular basis and up to 50 pounds occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to perform machine setups, equipment adjustments, tooling changes, and basic maintenance activities while maintaining safe work practices
  • Ability to visually inspect products, tooling, machine conditions, and production processes to verify quality, process compliance, and equipment performance
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical equipment, noise, vibration, heat, dust, oils, coolants, chemicals, and varying temperatures while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Ability to operate or become certified to operate powered industrial vehicles (PIV), overhead cranes, hoists, or other material handling equipment, as required by the assigned department

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience in advanced manufacturing, fabrication, machining, finishing, or related production operations, with demonstrated technical proficiency in the assigned manufacturing area
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, standardized work, SQCDP, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Previous experience serving as a technical lead, subject matter expert (SME), or informal leader in a manufacturing environment
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Manufacturing Technology, Industrial Technology, Precision Machining, Mechatronics, Tool & Die, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily production activities by balancing labor resources, assigning work, removing production barriers, and supporting the achievement of safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity objectives
  • Co-lead daily SQCDP team cadence meetings by communicating production priorities, reviewing performance metrics, facilitating problem-solving, escalating issues, and driving accountability for assigned action items
  • Maintain and update SQCDP visual management boards by ensuring safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity metrics, action plans, and continuous improvement activities are accurate, current, and effectively communicated to the team
  • Serve as the technical subject matter expert (SME) for assigned manufacturing processes by providing advanced troubleshooting, supporting complex machine setups, optimizing equipment performance, and resolving production issues to minimize downtime
  • Perform and support advanced machine operations, setups, changeovers, adjustments, and process verification as needed to maintain production continuity, support staffing needs, and ensure adherence to standardized work
