About The Position

Pacific Cheese, a family-owned and operated company for over 50 years, is seeking a Production Lead for their 1st shift. This role is based in South Reno and offers a comprehensive benefits package. The Production Lead will act as a key support to the supervisor, ensuring safe and efficient operations within their assigned area, training other employees, and maintaining quality standards. This position involves hands-on work, troubleshooting, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives within the production department.

Requirements

  • Capable of safe operations and training of other employees on every procedure and piece of equipment in area of responsibility.
  • Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of their assigned area.
  • Use good judgment and common sense while performing duties.
  • Standing for long periods of time.
  • Frequently twisting, turning, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling.
  • Lifting material up to 50lbs.
  • Must attend all department and company required trainings.
  • Pre-employment drug screen.

  • Assist in other areas as appropriate.
  • Assist Production Supervisor with accident investigations and corrective action reports.
  • Troubleshoot if problems occur on the line.
  • Confer with production supervisors with any issues.
  • Gather production records from in-feed and pack-off, verify production count, and make notes of any problems and downtime, if Supervisor is not available/out.
  • Create production reports, perform data entry and record keeping as needed.
  • Take initiative for identifying areas of improvement within the department, troubleshooting and working with management in resolving problems that arise.
  • Provide advice and assistance, including on the job training and coaching to improve the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the function and the department.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a lead person providing advice and assistance to the supervisor.
  • Ensure safe operations and train other employees on all procedures and equipment in the area of responsibility.
  • Oversee the safe and efficient operation of the assigned area and assist in other areas as needed.
  • Conduct spot checks of finished goods to verify compliance with specifications.
  • Fill in as needed in line positions to support production demands.
  • Assist the Production Supervisor with accident investigations and corrective action reports.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members and provide guidance to trainees.
  • Confirm that necessary production material is available to complete the production schedule.
  • Confirm that all equipment is prepared for the production schedule.
  • Inspect raw material to ensure it meets necessary quality standards and work with Quality Assurance to ensure input and output meet specifications.
  • Assist line workers to complete the planned production schedule.
  • Troubleshoot problems that occur on the line and confer with production supervisors on any issues.
  • Ensure production material is returned to its correct location upon completion of the production schedule.
  • Gather production records, verify production count, and document problems and downtime if the Supervisor is unavailable.
  • Create production reports, perform data entry, and record keeping.
  • Identify areas for improvement within the department, troubleshoot, and work with management to resolve problems.
  • Provide on-the-job training and coaching to improve the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the function and department.
  • Ensure safe work practices are observed with machinery and follow Good Manufacturing Practices for food safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
