About The Position

The Production Lead Day Shift position is responsible for assisting in training new employees within the department, leading and mentoring team leads, and coordinating day-to-day production needs and scheduling. This role involves communicating any employee or production issues to the department supervisor in a timely manner. The position emphasizes promoting safety, quality, continuous improvement, and LEAN practices, ensuring equipment is in safe operating condition, and performing preventative maintenance. The Production Lead will also act as the Production Supervisor in their absence and may assist in the hiring process, while continually mentoring and leading fellow employees. A key responsibility is performing and ensuring quality inspections are conducted according to the Steffes Quality Management System, and maintaining a positive work atmosphere through collaborative communication.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1+ years of prior work experience in a related field
  • Basic computer knowledge (Windows, email, internet, etc.)
  • Written and verbal communication, math, reading, and spelling skills
  • Walking and standing to a significant degree.
  • Working in tight spaces with areas less than 30” possible.
  • Ability to lift 70 pounds from floor to waist, carry 50 pounds, and push and/or pull up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders and/or stairs.
  • Stooping, crouching, kneeling, and bending.
  • Handling, feeling, and gripping would be required for most activities.
  • Visual acuity is required to inspect work before and after completion.
  • Learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions in the context of a workflow, ability to communicate with visitors, ability to complete tasks in situations that have a speed or productivity quota.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with HVLP and/or electrostatic guns, pressure pots, and proportioners is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Performing and assigning daily duties according to production schedules to all department staff.
  • Monitoring inventory levels and immediately notifying the department supervisor of any shortages that could slow production.
  • Training, auditing, and holding the team accountable to standard work and training guides.
  • Responding quickly to quality problems and complying with acceptance criteria.
  • Promoting safety, quality, continuous improvement, and LEAN practices.
  • Ensuring equipment is always in safe operating condition and performing preventative maintenance as scheduled.
  • Acting as Production Supervisor in their absence.
  • Assisting in the hiring process.
  • Continually mentoring and leading fellow employees.
  • Performing and ensuring quality inspections are being done in accordance to the Steffes Quality Management System.
  • Maintaining a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a collaborative manner with customers, suppliers, co-workers, and management.
  • Helping the company meet its Strategic, Quality and Safety objectives.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
