About The Position

The Production Lead II is responsible for leading and ensuring staff members are working effectively and efficiently. This position utilizes the space and equipment available to keep up with daily/weekly production demands. In addition, this position will be performing high level projects or tasks and front-line leadership and monitoring of assigned areas providing immediate support to production staff. This role requires flexibility to adapt quickly to change and a desire for growth. This position plays a key role in TAPCO’s prime metrics that feed directly into the companywide gainsharing program. This role would require 2-3 months of training on 1st shift to learn company processes and is eligible for a shift differential.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1 - 3 years production lead experience
  • 1 - 3 years of production daily/weekly scheduling and planning
  • Minimum of 2 years lean manufacturing / 5S experience
  • Prior experience troubleshooting electronic control systems
  • Strong computer skills - business application, Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, an advanced ERP system
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Leadership communication skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workflow
  • Communication skills: speak, read, write, and interpret English instructions
  • Add, subtract, divide, and multiply all units of measure
  • Knowledge of 5S and lean manufacturing methods
  • Computer knowledge, including MS Office Suite and ERP System
  • Leadership skills
  • Prioritize and delegate workload
  • Communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Provides daily direction and leadership to the Production team members; makes recommendations for labor needs in assigned areas.
  • Monitor team’s productivity; identifies work procedures; prepare work schedules and expedites workflow; study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of workers.
  • Provides escalation path for work cell teams and communicates daily with Production Supervisor
  • Participates in department hiring and corrective action processes
  • Monitor productivity, safety, quality and delivery goals of assigned work cells
  • Creates and manages a positive team culture of engagement and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the staff’s daily performance
  • Recommends and assists in implementing operating procedures and promotes continual improvement within the department and the company
  • Promotes a safe work environment and ensures that all employees are following safety rules and regulations
  • Coordinates priorities with Production leadership
  • Follows and enforces all 5S and safety policies
  • Conducts regular 5S, quality, safety and production audits.
  • Shares and supports ideas for improvement in group meetings
