About The Position

The Production Lead I is responsible for overseeing pre-operation and/or tear-down depending on the shift, coordinating line set-up, and reviewing production issues, schedules, and product specifications. This role works with other departments to prevent downtime and leads continuous improvement initiatives plant-wide. The Lead assigns personnel to work stations, provides direction and training, and recommends corrective actions for non-compliance. Key responsibilities include ensuring specification compliance, maintaining accurate documentation for line operations (lot tracking, waste, quality checks, product usage, production, and standards), and possessing basic math skills for data entry and attention to detail. The position requires the ability to read and interpret various operational documents and a willingness to cross-train in all production and packaging lead areas. Safety is paramount, and the employee must work safely at all times, spending approximately 95% of the shift on the production floor. A flexible schedule is required, including weekends and overtime as needed.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, speak, and write in English.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision yet be flexible and have the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Regularly required to stand and operate tools or controls.
  • Occasionally required to sit, walk, stoop or crouch.
  • Ascending or descending stairs may be required in some facilities.
  • Occasionally move up to 25 pounds with a hoist, pallet-jack or cart.
  • Regularly lift up to 15 pounds of boxes of product, bales of cartons, or rolls of film.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to enter data into computer programs.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and production reports.
