About The Position

The Bernard Group is seeking an enthusiastic Fixture Lead to join their team. This role is part of a talented group that collaborates to deliver world-class products. As Production Lead, you will be responsible for learning new equipment first as the subject matter expert, then coaching, training, and evaluating team members across areas like bindery, fabricating, cutting, and kitting on efficient machine set-ups and process flows. This is a non-management role with no hiring or firing authority, but you will operate as a hands-on "working lead" directly completing job tickets while providing regular feedback to the manager on team skill development. You will serve as the key liaison between CSRs and managers to ensure job success, while executing the final quality check on all products before shipment to TBG/SmartPress customers.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum 1-2 years experience in manufacturing assembly
  • Exhibit strong critical thinking skills
  • Be detail oriented to keep projects accurate
  • Be able to change direction quickly and easily to provide customer satisfaction
  • Have effective communication skills to help guide teams in the completion of work projects
  • Able to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing. Strong interpersonal skills including, demonstrated listening skills and the ability to present ideas and thoughts concisely and effectively both internally and outside the organization
  • Willing to admit when you make a mistake (it happens to the best of us)

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with manager, and other shift leadership in prioritizing and directing department work flow
  • Support a safe environment, driving towards 0 osha recordables & maintain high quality standards
  • Ensure assembly integrity through continuous monitoring of departmental processes
  • Establish open lines of communication with the production floor
  • Communicate electronically with necessary internal teams regarding production
  • Represent corporate policy and communicate to employees as required
  • Ensure training and skills matrix are in compliance with training policy & work to further develop team’s skill
  • Work toward continuous improvement by monitoring efficiency & productivity & implement improvements
  • Drive improvements in material flow, including cell design and material delivery interact with other support departments as required driving out costs where possible
  • Complete and perform quality checks during each job according to ticket specifications, producing quality work
  • Learn existing equipment and train and learn on new equipment
  • Set up production lines as assigned
  • Troubleshoot production problems to ensure productivity and quality standards are met
  • Put away stock on shelves, break down boxes and clean up after shift
  • Perform miscellaneous projects and complete various tasks as requested by management
