About The Position

The Bernard Group is a 100% employee-owned visual merchandising company seeking a Production Lead for their Cutting Department. This role involves training new and existing employees on machine setup and process flow, evaluating team members' work, and providing feedback to management. The Production Lead is a working lead, responsible for completing job ticket tasks, performing quality checks before shipment, and liaising with CSRs and managers to ensure customer satisfaction. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Basic computer skills, including ePace and Google
  • Pay close attention to details on every project
  • Self-motivated, a fast learner, and show initiative to seek out customer and corporate needs
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, coordinate, and manage your own work
  • Ability to work independently, make decisions and solve moderate level problems independently, effectively and creatively

  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time and perform long hours of work operating equipment
  • Lift print media and substrate weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Able to check color quality of printed materials & read a ruler to a 1/16th of an inch
  • Apply manual dexterity and visual acuity for cutting equipment and computer keyboarding use and to review detailed reports, instructions, print materials, and information
  • Move around the plant area repeatedly throughout the day

Nice To Haves

  • Previous work experience in printing, print operations, cutting, or machine operations
  • OSHA 10 Hour certification

Responsibilities

  • Train new and existing employees on efficient and effective machine set-up and process flow.
  • Train and evaluate the work of team members.
  • Provide feedback to the manager regarding team members' skill development.
  • Complete applicable work on the job ticket and adhere to specific job requirements.
  • Perform the last quality check before shipment to customers.
  • Act as a key liaison with the CSR and managers to ensure job completion within customer parameters.
  • Work closely with the manager and other shift leadership in prioritizing and directing department work flow.
  • Support a safe environment, driving towards 0 OSHA recordables & maintain high quality standards.
  • Ensure assembly integrity through continuous monitoring of departmental processes.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of supplies to meet production requirements.
  • Monitor issues and receipts for work orders.
  • Establish open lines of communication with the production floor.
  • Represent corporate policy and communicate to employees as required.
  • Ensure training and skills matrix are in compliance with training policy & work to further develop team’s skill.
  • Work towards continuous improvement by monitoring efficiency & productivity & implement improvements.
  • Drive improvements in material flow, including cell design and material delivery.
  • Interact with other support departments as required driving out costs where possible.
  • Complete quality checks on each job according to ticket specifications, producing quality work.
  • Learn existing equipment and train and learn on new equipment.
  • Troubleshoot production problems to ensure productivity and quality standards are met.
  • Contact equipment vendors for machines requiring maintenance and repair.
  • Put away stock on shelves, break down boxes and clean up after your shift.
  • Perform miscellaneous projects and complete various tasks as requested by management.
