About The Position

The Production Layout Engineer is responsible for reviewing new orders, planning efficient production layouts, preparing tools, communicating with vendors and production teams, creating table drawings, coordinating job scheduling, resolving production issues, managing material orders, designing and printing 3D tool assists, scheduling the 3D printer, designing secondary die-cut parts, and machining aluminum assists. This role requires a strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and process optimization, with a focus on ensuring uninterrupted production flow and accurate planning.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
5 years’ experience in layout assembly preferred.
Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and methodologies.
Proven experience in production layout design and process optimization, preferably in the packaging industry.
Proficient in CAD software and other relevant design tools.
Proficient in MS Office Suite.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within teams.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Interest and ability to work on process improvement initiatives.
Innovative/creative in finding solutions.
High attention to detail and ability to deep dive identify root causes of variance.

Responsibilities

Review new orders daily for quantity, material type, and gauge, alerting Customer Service to discrepancies.
Organize orders by similar quantities to create efficient and simple production layouts.
Finalize layout drawings and pull necessary tools for next-day assembly, identifying tools needing additional work.
Send approved layouts to the die vendor and communicate programs to the mold shop.
Produce full-scale table drawings based on packing information for accurate production planning.
Collaborate with the production team to coordinate job scheduling and review material needs.
Provide assistance with issues arising in assembly or the die shop.
Monitor and order plastic, die boards, and aluminum plates to ensure uninterrupted production flow.
Design and print secondary tool assists using the 3D printer as required for production.
Manage the scheduling and operation of the 3D printer to ensure timely production of assists.
Design second-level die-cut parts and coordinate with external die shops for component orders.
Design and machine any aluminum assists required for production processes.
