About The Position

The Production Laborer will perform a variety of tasks that assist operators and inspectors with the production process. Duties may be changed, or additional duties assigned. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience and certification to operator forklifts is strongly preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication; able to understand written and verbal instructions.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision; works efficiently and manages time effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Willing and able to work as part of a team.
  • Regularly required to walk and stand.
  • Frequently required to squat; climb; kneel; lift up to 35 pounds; carry up to 24 pounds; and use hands/fingers for simple grasping and reaching.
  • May on occasion bend at the waits; reach above the shoulder; crawl; lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds; use hands and fingers for fine manipulation.
  • Exposed to moving mechanical parts and airborne particles.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually medium to loud.
  • Required to wear eye, foot, and other personal protective equipment as designated.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
  • Full-time work week is 40-55 hours Monday – Friday, 10-hour days Monday-Thursday.
  • 12-hour shifts are sometimes required to meet delivery schedules.
  • Saturdays (1/2 days) as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform safe lifting and maneuvering of parts utilizing hoists, overhead crane, jib crane, and/or forklift.
  • Assist operators with transferring parts between production steps and to finished goods inventory.
  • Wash and stamp parts with GVM product number for identification purposes.
  • Assist Quality Inspectors with quality assurance testing, moving parts as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation of parts for shipment, including preparing part boxes.
  • Stage parts for shipment and load trailers; unload parts from trailers.
  • Remove full bags of scrap from machines and replace with empty bags. Prepare scrap bags for shipment, banding, weighing, marking them with relevant information. Load for shipment.
  • Perform daily inspection of all forklifts and cranes at the start of each shift, completing all necessary paperwork. Identify and report any issues.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the production area, includes but is not limited to, emptying garbage cans, sweeping the floor, and operating a walk-behind floor scrubbing.
  • Assist, as needed, with capital expense projects.
