About The Position

U.S. Pipe and Foundry is seeking a Production - Labor Pool Associate. This role involves training in various departments based on applicant skills and interview performance. The labor pool supports production needs by filling in for absent employees, relieving regular employees for breaks, and performing general labor tasks. A strong emphasis is placed on safety, good housekeeping, and supporting production demands as assigned by supervisors.

Requirements

  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Must be able to climb steps and ladders.
  • Must be able to bend and stoop repeatedly.
  • Must be able to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull objects and materials weighing 50 pounds and occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull objects and materials weighing more than 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to manually roll pipe on rails.
  • Must be able to work in both hot and cold environments.
  • Must be able to practice safe work procedures and comply with applicable safety rules and regulations in a heavy industrial environment.
  • Must be able to work under various working conditions.
  • Should be able to learn and perform simple jobs in a reasonable time.
  • Must be safety conscious at all times.

Nice To Haves

  • Eligible to enter the maintenance apprenticeship program.

Responsibilities

  • Train in departments best suited for applicant based on previous skill and/or interview.
  • Perform potential job responsibilities of machine operator, equipment operator, line worker, shipping worker, and others.
  • Fill in on production jobs when required within departments, replacing absentees or vacations.
  • Serve as a relief man to relieve regular employees for work and lunch breaks.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in any work area assigned.
  • Practice safe work practices and maintain a safety-first mindset.
  • Perform all work as assigned by the supervisor to support production needs.
  • Complete clean-up tasks involving picking up, sweeping, and shoveling.
  • Help remove production materials and all other debris in the area.
  • Position equipment back in proper place.
  • Recognize defective equipment and appropriately report defects to leadership/supervisor.
