About The Position

Under immediate direction, safely operates cleaning equipment and handles chemicals to sanitize production equipment and to clean the production area. This role is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment in compliance with company policies and food safety standards.

Requirements

  • Mechanical aptitude with the capability to learn and follow instructions for disassembly and re-assembly of food processing equipment.
  • Self-motivated individual who requires minimal supervision and direction.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent safety work habits at all times.
  • Ability to work safely, calmly and effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow written specifications, blueprints or equipment diagrams.
  • Must be able to work as a member of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • 0-6 months experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred.
  • High School Education or GED desired preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning equipment and facilities according to a Master Sanitation Schedule.
  • Using a variety of equipment, including high pressure water hoses, to thoroughly cleanse and sanitize production equipment following established procedures. May be required to disassemble and re-assemble portions of the equipment.
  • Applying chemicals for cleaning, degreasing and sanitizing; applying hot water wash down for sterilization.
  • Shoveling and sweeping floors, drains, and sewers from daily production; gathering trash and transporting trash to compactor for disposal.
  • Handling equipment and chemicals in accordance with company, government, and material safety data sheet guidelines.
  • Performing general housekeeping duties in worker area; maintaining a clean and safe work area in compliance with existing policy.
  • Complying with organization policies including, but not limited to, safety, good manufacturing practices, food safety, employment and work rules.
  • Reporting any safety and mechanical problems to department supervisor or team lead immediately.
  • Using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); recognizing and practicing Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMP).
  • Keeping assigned area clean, organized and free from safety hazards, including the chemical storage room.
  • Keeping safety as a high priority for yourself and co-workers around you.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
