About The Position

The Production Hi-lo Driver is responsible for ensuring efficient material flow within the plant by keeping operations stocked with materials and supplies. This role is crucial for maintaining smooth production by managing the movement of containers, parts, materials, and components, as well as removing filled containers. A primary focus is to support production and minimize downtime. The driver must also ensure accurate identification and weighing of materials, handle nonconforming products correctly, and operate the Hi-lo safely and responsibly, adhering to all safety regulations and company policies.

Requirements

Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Hi-lo driver in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to follow MIOSHA safety requirements.
Knowledge and compliance of safety procedures and policies required.
Good communication skills (written and verbal).

Responsibilities

Keep presses and work centers supplied with containers, parts, material and/or components; and the removal of containers as they are filled with work in process material, finished goods and/or scrap.
Support production and eliminate unnecessary downtime.
Verify that material and product has been properly identified with part number and operation number.
Weight count containers before product is placed in final audit, work in process, or finished goods (if not standard pack).
Identify all nonconforming products entering the hold area with a part number, quantity and defect description.
Verify information prior to moving material into the hold area.
Weigh partial coils prior to placing in the hold area.
Operate the Hi-lo in a safe and responsible manner, abiding by the rules of safe Hi-lo operation.
Complete a daily Hi-lo checklist for the maintenance department.
Notify the maintenance department and supervisor if the Hi-lo is not operating correctly.
Empty scrap from containers into the correct scrap hoppers.
Support scrap pickup activities as required including weight certification of scrap containers.
Clean out baskets and remove all tags and labels.
Put correct tare weights on containers prior to use.
Monitor availability of steel at presses and load steel at presses when needed.
Ensure that company policies and procedures are adhered to including IATF16949, ISO14001 (EMS), and Employee Handbook.
Follow MIOSHA and MPTSH safety regulations and policies, including wearing required P.P.E. (Personal Protective Equipment).
Report unsafe conditions to Supervisor/Leader.
Participate in EOS Focus Groups.
Support and participate in division and department improvement initiatives through Continuous Improvement Suggestion Program, and sharing of knowledge, ideas, and/or best practices with co-workers.
