About The Position

Worthington Armstrong Venture (WAVE), a joint venture between Worthington Enterprises and Armstrong World Industries, is a worldwide leader in the production of suspended ceiling systems, specifically metal ceiling grids. Founded in 1992, WAVE operates under a philosophy rooted in the golden rule, fostering strong employee-employer partnerships. WAVE is currently seeking two Forklift Operators to join their team. This role involves performing multiple tasks to ensure safe and quality production, including transporting materials around the plant with a forklift and/or heavy machinery, and prioritizing requests to maintain smooth and efficient production flow.

Requirements

  • Must be able to handle physical, repetitive work and be able to get on and off a Forklift for 8-10 hrs. a day.
  • Competent in basic math skills.
  • Must be able to read, follow detailed instructions and understand English.
  • Must follow all safety policies and procedures.
  • Must have good safety awareness and efficiency skills.
  • Can read and comprehend written instructions on productions.
  • Basic Computer Skills

Responsibilities

  • Complete daily forklift mechanical inspections and report any problems.
  • Safely transport finished goods to the inventory warehouse and follow proper stacking procedures.
  • Operate a sit-down propane forklift to load/unload coils, pallets, and other material from flatbed and box trailers.
  • Verify accuracy of inbound/outbound paperwork against actual shipped materials and enter information into computer systems.
  • Prepare damage reports for cartons, scrap, or replace material following standard operating procedures.
  • Follow standard operating procedures to safely unload steel in racks for operations.
  • Maintain all work areas and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Perform all work in a safe manner, using proper lock-out procedures during repairs or machine adjustments.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure all safety equipment is in proper working order.
  • Actively participate in communication and WAVE culture.
  • Move and stage material as scheduled for optimum machine efficiency.
  • Provide machine support by emptying scrap tubs and ensuring lines are cleared of finished product.
  • Locate material into finished goods as needed.
  • Provide the line with needed materials.
  • Responsible for all safety aspects regarding forklift/heavy equipment.
  • Conduct daily inspection of equipment used.
