Kipp & Zonen is seeking a Production Engineer to support their Operations & R&D teams in Austin, TX, to help protect lives and the environment. The Production Engineer reports to the Operations Leader and supports the development, deployment, and maintenance of production test systems in Operations. This role involves technical, multi-disciplined work to improve manufacturing quality, performance, and throughput, acting as a critical liaison between Operations and R&D. This position is part of the Operations team and is on-site at the Austin, Texas production facility. Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another relevant engineering discipline
  • Demonstrated electrical engineering experience, including work with PCBs and PCBAs
  • 3–5 years of experience in production or manufacturing test system design
  • Hands-on experience with test software tools (LabVIEW, TestStand, etc.) and data communication methods and devices (e.g., USB, Modbus, RS-485)
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing production data to improve manufacturing performance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with mechanical engineering tools, CAD, or related engineering software
  • Familiarity with manufacturing quality and control tools (e.g., pFMEA, Gauge R&R)
  • Experience using Power BI and/or Infor SyteLine

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and maintain production test systems for Operations
  • Troubleshoot test stand issues and implement corrective actions
  • Support new product introduction and transfer from R&D to Operations
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and technical documentation
  • Analyze production data to improve efficiency and reduce waste
  • Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Product Management, and cross-functional teams
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using VES Lean Manufacturing tools
  • Provide cost and schedule estimates for test system development and maintenance
  • Maintain accurate production data, including labor routings, BOMs, part costs, cycle times, and standard work
  • Provide manufacturing input to product design teams to support Design for Manufacturability
