About The Position

HiFyve is hiring a Production Engineer in the Chemical Manufacturing industry in Alsip, IL! This role serves as the technical resource for product quality, plant reliability, cost management, and health, environmental, and safety (HES) performance within a batch manufacturing environment. The Production Engineer will monitor, analyze, and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), coordinate new product scale-up activities, and lead troubleshooting efforts for process and quality issues. This position also provides technical support for daily production activities and supports the DeltaV process control system.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering (required)
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in chemical manufacturing
• Experience with DeltaV process control systems
• Knowledge of emulsion polymerization manufacturing processes
• Experience supporting new product scale-up from laboratory to commercial production
• Understanding of acrylic monomer handling and related process safety practices
• Familiarity with Process Safety methodologies, including Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA)
• Experience performing root cause investigations and implementing corrective actions
• Familiarity with IP-21 or similar process data historian systems
• Knowledge of HES compliance, plant reliability, product quality, and cost management principles
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated leadership abilities with a commitment to continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical resource for product quality, plant reliability, cost management, and health, environmental, and safety (HES) performance within a batch manufacturing environment.
• Monitor, analyze, and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), including tracking performance metrics and implementing process improvements.
• Coordinate new product scale-up activities and support successful commercialization through recipe implementation and manufacturing readiness.
• Maintain and update plant recipes, batch operating procedures, and process documentation while ensuring Management of Change (MOC) requirements are followed.
• Lead troubleshooting efforts, perform root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions for process and quality issues.
• Provide technical support for daily production activities to help achieve safety, quality, production, and cost objectives.
• Support and maintain the DeltaV process control system and assist with process optimization, commissioning, startup activities, and control loop tuning.
• Participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), incident investigations, Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), and other safety initiatives while promoting continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, automation, research, and management to drive operational excellence and process improvements.
