About The Position

Monument Chemical, headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, serves the specialty chemicals industry by producing a variety of solvents, intermediates, specialty fuels, and other specialty products, while also offering industry-leading Custom Manufacturing services. The Production Engineering role oversees the operation of distillation projects and hydrogenation reactors. This role acts as a technical resource for operations personnel, applying technical skills to optimize plant operations, implement and commission yield improvement and cost-saving projects, and participates in procedure reviews, operator training, and site qualification efforts. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry with plant production experience.
  • 3+ years of work experience in an engineering role.
  • Must be willing to participate in our 24/7 production facility call out policy, when needed.
  • Ability to function and communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Willing to work on shift for 30 days during the 90-day probationary period.
  • Ability to obtain TWIC Card.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operation of distillation projects and/or hydrogenation reactors.
  • Understand and learn how equipment associated with the campaign operates.
  • Understand and work with plant utilities.
  • Provide data and chemical engineering support for specific product campaigns in collaboration with the Operations Manager.
  • Optimize operations and meet plant goals by working closely with Technical Advising and plant personnel.
  • Ensure all product specifications are met by working closely with Quality Assurance personnel.
  • Assist the Engineering Department in developing cost-effective projects to optimize production and minimize working capital.
  • Develop procedures for items already in production or to be produced in the future.
  • Prepare and enhance operating instructions.
  • Troubleshoot plant operations when actual operation does not meet the expected operation.
  • Generate reports detailing and summarizing specific campaign efforts, including mass balances, process data analysis, and de-bottlenecking proposals.
  • Develop and maintain campaign-specific schedules to meet production demand.
  • Ensure campaigns are running efficiently by working with plant personnel, technical advisors, and through data analysis.
  • Actively participate with operators in the field to help identify process and safety improvements.
  • Communicate technical information and issues to plant personnel at all levels within the organization, when needed.
  • Optimize the disposition of waste (water and organics) generated in each project to improve cost savings.
  • Lead quarterly improvement meetings with Technical Advising personnel for the main projects.
  • Lead pre-campaign meetings prior to start-up to discuss all items related to project execution.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including continuously growing in alignment with the Company’s core values, competencies, and skills.
