About The Position

Formulate, manage, and execute process improvement projects used in the Mfg. of “Honey-Ceram”. Assist in problem solving around defect management and equipment. Production Engineers can be utilized in various departments. The Production Engineer position is responsible to provide a technical aptitude and approach to maintain operation control of the processes within the scope of the production project. The role will be to manage critical inventories, projects and timelines, to evaluate operation performance trends and coordinate activities. The concept for this position is to provide a “bridge” between Department and all supporting Teams.

Requirements

  • Must have a 4yr degree Engineering from an accredited institution or a combination of equivalent technical experience and engineering studies.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical document furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to write operation performance reports.
  • Ability to effectively present information verbally and respond to questions from peers and managers.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in standard and metric units of measure, using base 10 system, for fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate performance data to apply reaction plans/ corrective action.
  • Must be on your current job for one (1) year if your job grade is a 7 or lower.
  • Must be on your current job for a minimum of two (2) years for job grades 8 or higher.
  • No disciplinary actions within the last year (low level points warnings may be waived if there are special circumstances that can be, or are, documented).
  • Meet the minimum requirements of the open job description.
  • Completion of the current learner’s assessment and other training requirements.
  • Completed Career Readiness Certificate (CRC).

Responsibilities

  • Extract and evaluate data in order to identify project to be worked. Generate Performance Trend Reports for all operation processes within the assigned department by evaluating and analyzing operation controls adherence data (PIMs, Infinity Quik Sense and Operator SPC, CAPAC, etc.).
  • Identify Assignable Causes of defects and process variation; maybe requested to champion teams to reduce, identify, or eliminate the Root Cause. Coordinate efforts within Department and Plant Area, Performance Control, Process Engineering, Maintenance, Engineering, and Planning to ensure that all associated members are informed of the purpose and objective of the Line/Area Test.
  • Coordinate all O/H events of the project with impacted areas of the Plant(s), Planning and Maintenance. Champion the Critical Timelines, Inventories Management System (elements, gearbox, blades, finishing tools, magnetrons, Kiln Car, Maintenance specific parts and tools). Manages inventory levels based on usage and scheduled replacement.
  • Promotes safety, quality, efficiency and productivity in the department.
  • Enforces company practices per WI, KP sheets and assists Line Advisers to maintain good operation conditions. Assist to determine best conditions for new product or processes.
  • Works safely by avoiding forklifts; staying clear of forklift doors; using personnel doors when entering or exiting the buildings; and safely using overhead hoists.
  • Participates in PM (Preventive Maintenance), MMOL (Machine Maintenance Operator Leader), and G5S (Global “G5S”: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) activities as needed.
  • Follows all EMS (Environmental Management System) procedures, including the disposal of waste and used materials.
  • Must be a Team Player.
  • Must have the ability to multitask.
