We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Production Engineer with solid experience in breathing airway apparatuses to support our quickly growing organization and product lines. At Huish Outdoors Engineers have the unique opportunity to work with a vast array of product categories, materials, and manufacturing techniques ranging from high precision machining, plastic injection molding, technical textiles, and many more. Our Engineers are passionate about our products and strive to further their knowledge base through research and experience with emerging materials, design practices, and manufacturing processes. Working daily with the production and operations team, this position develops improved production processes, work instructions, fixtures and analyzing workflows for operational efficiency. Interact frequently with engineering teams around the world to manage incoming machine cast and molded components, updating production facilities with changes, improvements and validating any outstanding quality concerns. The Production Engineer works with cross functional teams to assist in sourcing new materials, setting up new production lines, and drive an ongoing effort of continuous improvement of our products and manufacturing techniques. Production Airway Engineer provides critical feedback to our design teams to ensure new products are designed for manufacturing. Requirements

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field
3+ years' experience in medical, aerospace or similar industry preferred
3+ Years' experience with airways, specifically for scuba diving required with an excellent understanding of airways, breathing apparatus that assist individuals to breathe underwater
Working knowledge of general dimensioning and tolerances of technical drawings (machining and finishing)
Demonstrated success in assembly line setup, configuration, measurement metrics and optimization techniques, including time studies to validate Labor requirements.
Ability to define workflows via flowcharts
Knowledge of Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen principles.
Skilled at technical writing in English, preferred previous experience
Regulatory adherence: Ensuring all manufacturing processes comply with government laws, safety regulations, and environmental policies.
Safety Standards: Identifying potential hazards and developing safety protocols, such as Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) or Job safety analysis (JSA) to protect production workforce.
Experience in production facility engagement, component validation and quality control
Advanced knowledge of Solid Works suite of products, and ability to maintain detailed revision controls
Expert ability to communicate effectively with others including the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback to others helpful.
Expert ability to assertively solve strategic problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Demonstrated success managing projects to completion with minimal oversight and against aggressive timelines preferred
Expert ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment preferred

Nice To Haves

Understanding of fluid dynamics, pressure vessel design and metallurgy is desirable
Experience with CNC machined products and machining processes
Use of foreign language outside of English such as Spanish and/or Mandarin useful but not required.

Responsibilities

Responsible for providing expertise in the following areas: Designing and documenting production workflows and process optimization, design engineering, quality assurance, manufacturing, product design
Responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing the systems that run raw materials into finished goods.
Responsible for fixture design, tooling requirements and assembly design using SolidWorks suite and PDM
Responsible for testing new products and materials and the verification of design outputs
Accountable for the development and improvement of work/operating procedures in clear collaboration with Quality Assurance. Ensure instructions and operating procedures provide efficient processes, are easily understood, and implemented.
Develop and implement quality assurance methods to ensure products meet standards within assembly process.
Collaborate with Product Development for sourcing new materials and driving the ongoing effort of continuous improvement of products in alignment with manufacturing techniques.
Responsible for equipment and maintenance - researching, sourcing, and installing machinery, tools, and fixtures to optimize output. Coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime.
Lead root cause analysis for equipment failures or production-related problems, implementing corrective and preventative measures
Work in collaboration with the Production teams to ensure adherence to processes and procedures.
Accountable for setting up, auditing manufacturing processes and procedures for existing product lines. Ensure scalability and sustainability, analyzing production process expenses
Accountable for the creation of engineering drawings for manufacturing partners and customer and recordkeeping.
Responsible for identifying and implementing automated systems including robotics and computer-integrated technology to increase production speed and integrity to reduce human error.
Collaborate frequently and engage with production partners outside of North American time zones
Expected travel is 25-35% depending on the needs of the company. May travel to production locations for training where required. Valid Passport recommended.
Physical Activities include periods of sitting for long durations. May stand for long periods. Long periods on a computer that may emulate blue light. Able to walk through production areas. Able to walk around tight areas and lift up to 20 lbs.
