About The Position

The Production Engineer II provides engineering support to manufacturing operations, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient production within assigned systems or work centers. This role is responsible for owning defined production areas, driving technical problem-solving, and executing continuous improvement initiatives that improve performance, reliability, and quality. The position requires a high level of initiative, strong analytical skills, and the ability to lead projects within a fast-paced, regulated manufacturing environment. The Production Engineer I works cross-functionally with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Validation, and Engineering teams to resolve issues, implement improvements, and support overall site performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field)
  • 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing or process engineering environment
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing systems and equipment
  • Experience applying Lean / Six Sigma methodologies
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and process documentation
  • Experience in regulated environments (cGMP preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Owns engineering support for assigned production systems or work centers
  • Analyzes production performance (downtime, efficiency, yield) to identify trends and losses
  • Performs structured troubleshooting and root cause analysis for equipment and process issues
  • Coordinates with Maintenance, Operations, and vendors to resolve technical issues
  • Implements and verifies sustainable solutions to prevent recurrence
  • Leads improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, waste reduction, and reliability
  • Identifies and prioritizes opportunities based on operational and business impact
  • Applies Lean / Six Sigma tools (DMAIC, root cause analysis, data analysis) to drive results
  • Supports and contributes to broader cross-functional improvement efforts
  • Maintains ownership of assigned systems, equipment, or product lines
  • Monitors performance and drives actions to improve safety, quality, and output
  • Develops and implements process improvements within defined areas
  • Ensures engineering changes are properly documented and controlled
  • Leads smaller equipment upgrades and improvement projects within assigned areas
  • Supports larger capital projects by managing defined workstreams
  • Participates in equipment installation, commissioning, and startup activities
  • Interfaces with contractors, vendors, and cross-functional teams during execution
