About The Position

The Production Engineer provides engineering support and Continuous Improvement leadership for polyacrylamide manufacturing plants. The position provides critical support for operators, managers, and engineers in troubleshooting and improving processes. The Production Engineer will ensure plant quality performance standards are maintained, Overall Equipment Effectiveness is maximized while operating and maintenance costs are optimized. The Production Engineer will utilize Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing tools to support/facilitate the Continuous Improvement teams throughout the plants.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 1-3 years of chemical manufacturing experience.
  • Mechanical/Troubleshooting Skills and a high degree of Safety Awareness.
  • OSHA PSM covered chemical manufacturing experience.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma exposure.
  • Superior communication (verbal & written); ability to motivate, prioritize, and organize in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to address issues, follow up, and implement solutions as required.

Responsibilities

  • Track manufacturing performance to identify, communicate, and eliminate production performance issues (efficiency, on-stream-time, off-spec, and waste/yields) with Production/Engineering/Maintenance to continually maximize production capacities.
  • Monitor Maintenance Reports and come up with corrective actions.
  • Work on long-term plant projects (not capital).
  • Troubleshooting/problem-solving techniques are required to respond to various operational issues that may occur quickly.
  • Coordinate/lead continuous improvement activities/teams for all aspects of the manufacturing processes.
  • Provide support for R&D/new product trials.
  • Develop, maintain, and update all operator training procedures.
  • Facilitate/support continuous improvement teams/projects.
  • Provide technical training for the plant operators, supervisors, and managers.
  • Develop/improve/sustain the plant’s preventive maintenance and Total Product Maintenance programs.
  • Maintain the plant safety files.
  • Coordinate process change documentation.
  • Support plant start-ups as required.
  • Routinely responsible for tasks outside the department to ensure the plant’s objectives are met.
